I am just asking for the rest of this week, let us not complain but instead embrace this team. Yes there is a whole bunch of stuff to bitch about, but I'm tired of bitching. We can make the playoffs and Untill we can't, can we please think positive. Playoffs, yeah we can do this!smileys with beer

Stay positive?

I am sticking by my team no matter what, but staying positive and staying loyal are two different things.

I've been with this team since they were born, and I've stuck with them through thick and thin.

Except for a few years ago, what has Miami done to hold on to its fan base?

They need to start winning again, and I mean competing for and taking the AFCE. They start doing that and people will once again be positive about this team. Fans may even show up for home games.

Look at last week's gave against Pitt. They almost gave it away on the very last play. Come on, man!

True, Miami got the W.

But when one looks at all the games that Miami has played this year, who is comfortable with this team? We fans are biting our nails hoping they don't do something stupid to give the game away, and they have done that quite often this year (and in years past).

That last play vs Pitt shows the weakness of the coaching staff and the players on the field. Everyone knew what was coming. Not one Steeler that touched the ball was touched by a Miami player...NOT ONE! The Steelers made that play look too easy; just like it was drawn up. Where the hell were the Miami defenders when Ben first threw the ball? Sitting 20-30 yards back and out of the TV picture.

That's why I hate that prevent defense.

I knew Miami would right this ship. People just need to believe. I admit it was harder when We had a Coach who lived and breathed Chad Henne.......but now? No way I can't help but be excited every snap Tanny gets. All I wanted was a Franchise QB. Thank You Football Gods. smileys with beer

if that Pitt WR's foot was 1/2 inch wider, what would this board look like? I root for the phins as much as anyone, but you're not less of a fan if all you do is talk about how great the team is. there's lots of room for improvement and this board would be a very boring place if every post was essentially, "go phins!"

I think you meant a half an inch SLIMMER, berk, and that meant the touchdown would have been good because he would not have been ruled out of bounds.

And I can't remember. Was it called out of bounds by the FIELD OFFICIAL? Or did the field official call it a touchdown and it was reversed. I can't remember either way.

But the thing about it was that IF it was called OUT OF BOUNDS by the field official THEN WE REALLY LUCKED OUT!!!

That is because on the replay I could not DEFINITELY SAY that he was CLEARLY out of bounds. And that might have been what saved us because an on the field ref called CANNOT be REVERSED unless there is "indisputable visual evidence" sufficient to say that the call was wrong.

In that case, maybe that was what saved us.

But that was a play you couldn't blame anybody but the players. Not the coaches as I usually do but that was disgraceful.

refs did a great job on the play and immediately called him out at the 13, no TD called on field

sure looked like it but head of officials made statement yesterday that since it wasn't called illegal on the field it would've been upheld as a TD had runner not stepped out since not enough evidence of forward lateral to overturn. so phew!!

Oh, yeah. I didn't know about the forward lateral thing but on that, YEAH, if it ain't called on the field there is no way to compensate for that.

That would be like you going back in the game and showing film of holding on the last play that was missed.

If it's missed, it's missed. End of story.

no it's not that the lateral isn't a reviewable play (it is), it's just that there's not enough evidence to overturn it

Really? Well, I guess they can review whether a QB's pass is beyond the line of scrimmage so I can see that.

But is it more like that or more like a hold?

But one thing that maybe I'm not considering is how at the end of the game within the last two minutes, all reviews are from the booth and thus, the coach can't call a challenge.

I guess it's more like a pass beyond the line of scrimmage.

But I don't see why it would be a question of sufficient evidence because you just freeze frame at the point that the ball leaves the QB's hand (then note the yardage there) and then you freeze frame at the point the ball touched the receiver's hand, note the yardage THERE, and compare the two. So that would not be a question of sufficient evidence such as what portion of the guy's foot was on a field in which there was snow all over the lines.

I'm gonna go back and see the highlight on nfl.com and then check the rule book about the ability to review a missed call of this sort.

the music city miracle was reviewed for whether it was a lateral or not. same thing

from wiki re music city miracle--

Per the instant replay rules, a booth review was called. The play was reviewed by referee Phil Luckett to determine whether the line judges' ruling that the throw had not been a forward pass was correct. One of the on-field sideline mobile cameras had been repositioned to provide a sideline view of the Titans' reception of the kickoff. This camera angle ended up showing the unintended reception of the kickoff by Neal, but was blocked (by Titans players) from recording the single reverse handoff by Neal to Wycheck. However, it fully captured the lateral by Wycheck to Dyson.
Upon the replay of its feed, the camera showed that the line judge began to follow the development of the play when Neal had handed the ball off to Wycheck. The line judge had moved to the sideline yard marker as Wycheck had slowed to position himself to throw the lateral. After the lateral was thrown, the line judge moved again to realign himself with the yard marker, at which he had observed Dyson receiving the lateral. Because that second position was upfield from the point where the line judge had positioned himself when Wycheck had thrown the ball, the line judge's hand signaled during the play that the pass was indeed a lateral, and not an illegal forward pass. After a long official review, the video was deemed inconclusive to overturn the line judge's ruling on the field.
The Titans made one final kickoff, and the clock expired during the Bills' return. The Titans held on to win 22–16.

You're right, I did notice that. No ref on the field made the TD signal in the first place.

and..phew, indeed.

I can blame both! The coaches for having the defense so far back that it was easy to complete the pass then the laterals after that. The players because it seemed as if they didn't know what the hell was going on and they had never seen anything like that in their lives.

How many times have we, as fans, seen that play, and how many times has it worked? I have never seen this play where NOT ONE defensive player touched anyone on the other team during the play....NOT ONE!

If it had been ruled a TD it would have been reviewed upstairs as all TDs are reviewed automatically.

Lucky for Miami, there was a ref running down the sideline and focused on Brown's foot. As soon as he stepped out of bounds, the ref called it.

I don't understand how some people view Miami as getting lucky. As if we 'deserved' to lose because we almost lost. That's not how it works, you either win or you lose, there is no in between.

And if you think we were the lucky ones, Pittsburgh would have been incredibly lucky to score that TD and sneak out with a win.

phinsfan402, nobody is saying we were lucky TO WIN....we are saying that we were lucky NOT TO LOSE on that last play.

I think that all in YOUR head as to how you are viewing what we said.

For me, I think that we played a solid game. We beat a solid game and we deserved to win.

But to come so close to losing it on that crazy play that has really only worked ONCE BEFORE IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL (and remember I'm a Cal grad) is scary. Was scary and will always be scary when you look back on it.

I don't know what else to say except that you've got the wrong impression.

Either that or sickofit has hacked your account.

It was definitely a scary play, I'm not refuting that. You guys weren't the only ones screaming at the tv.
