Next up--Steelers. They've had a lousy season (5-7). Wallace returns to his former playground. Will he be covered or will the Steelers DBs covering him be uncovered? Which Dolphins team will show up in a stadium packed with rooting Steelers' fans? A running team, a passing team, balanced attack? What about the weather? Will the weather be a factor? Rain, sleet, snow, cold? To early to tell, but one thing is certain, whatever it is at game time, both teams play in it.

Will we "be in it, to win it?" I sure hope so. Thumbs up for a big Dolphins win in 'da Burgh." thumbs up

Well, home field is usually worth 3 points so the oddsmakers basically see this game as even.

I am pretty sure we were under dogs against the Jets as well yesterday according to Vegas... I think we were getting 1.5

Looks like it's going to be in the mid 30s with a 60% chance of rain and snow.

Whoever makes the least amount of mistakes will win.

If we can pull it off this would be a huge win.

all I know is...

Teams that make the playoffs (and have a chance to make some noise) find a way to win winnable games -- and this game is VERY winnable.

I'm looking for another brain fart from our coaching staff -- specifically the inability to forge a consistent winning plan of action that fits the teams personnel and overall chemistry.

In other words -- when it really matters our coaching staff will most likely blow it!

Look for bad calls at critical times…

Well last week our coaching staff took off the gloves. Not only did we throw deep more we also blitzed on defense and Tanny ran the ball.

Coyle should be very familiar with the steelers. Big Ben can move around and keep plays alive but he's playing behind an oline as bad as ours.

I'd love to see them be aggressive again on d.

I always worry about the O. We've adjusted with quicker throws and tanne has been taking off more than earlier this season. I can see Sherman thinking that means the line is all better now and put him in 5-7 step drops and getting killed.

BNF, it think it's just a part of being a phin fan these days. Get your hopes up only to see them lay an egg against a beatable team.

I, too, expect a loss.

True the Steelers have had a dreadful season but they are 5-3 since their bye including beating the Lions and Ravens twice. Still, looks very winnable...unless we are embarrassingly out-schemed AGAIN.

Exactly. With good consistent coaching we'd be 8-4 at this point. With great coaching we'd be 9-3. My opinion. Of course.

So we are pretty much what most of the experts predicted. Another also ran.

I mean how long did it take this group to address the OL catastrophe?

If J Martin didn’t get a yeast infection they probably still wouldn't have made any changes. You don’t wait until half the season is over to unleash your team. Great coaches find ways to win week to week. Not just once or twice a season.

If they win out I'll change my opinion. But not until that happens. Which ain't gonna happen -- though it's a possibility with excellent coaching and great game planning.

Obviously we have to win this game first for anything to matter from here. That's WHY I have serious doubts about them getting it done.

OK, that one almost made coffee come out my nose lol!

True though. Some are trying to credit Philbin for the 'Great handling of the situation and improved play of the line.'...thats almost as funny as your yeast infection comment.

He had NO idea what was going on in his locker room OR the reason for the dysfunction on the OLine.

with what they were trying to do on offense they went with the best 5 out of camp.

come on now. you don't think they didn't evaluate that all offseason?

the difference now is the passing strategy. more 3 step drops. quicker throws

had they done that from the get go we'd be fooled into thinking we had a good line. we still don't. it's just the adjustments.

now you can get on the coaches all you want about not adjusting earlier in the year. they should have and didn't but to think they threw darts blindfolded to pick the line is absurd.

the steelers line was abysmal at the beginning of the year. then maurkice pouncy got hurt and was replaced with some street free agent stiff that came in and played better.

it happens.

A big part of coaching is evaluating players and putting them into situations where they can at least handle the job -- and hopefully excel.

Another part is having players on the roster who are capable of playing if the need arises either through injury or lack of performance.

We FAILED on both counts.

For example, if the OL was incapable of blocking for 5 step drops (or whatever) then WHY keep trying it??? Why not revamp and move forward with a revised system that fits the personnel??? Seems like a no brainer to me. And great coaches like Don Shula did that consistently for most of his career.

In addition, we had guys stashed on our roster who obviously were INCAPABLE of contributing on game day -- although it was glaringly obvious we needed to make some changes. Lets be real -- someone is making poor decisions when then kind of crap is going down.

My opinion. Of course.

Go back and check -- WHO was on the roster opening day that came in an was productive?

After the disaster we

traded for McKinnie, picked up Sam Brenner off the street, picked up Watkins off the street and picked up Arkin off the street…

Simple question: why the hell was (and is) Dallas Thomas on the roster???

We pick up trash off the street rather than play someone on the roster???

That's total crap. End of story.

I think because a large part of their offense was predicated on that. They started 3-0 and that masked the problem. Why fix what isn't broken? But then the losing streak happened and then martin happened. They were forced to adjust. They have to believe that with more reps and games it will improve. If not and they just scrap the 5 step drops they're scrapping a very large part of the offense they spent all offseason installing.

Look, all of these coaches have egos and they think their systems are the best. The best coaches can swallow their pride and adjust. hopefully philbin can. for as much grief as the guy gets he does have us at .500 with a 2nd year RB with a shitty oline and running game.

It doesnt matter where they brought them from. The fact is the Oline is playing way better than before. At least tannehill isnt getting sacked at a record pace.

Like I said, the fact that it went down the way it did concerns me for the future...

It's obvious we sailed into the season with huge issues at OL -- and Philbin didn't see the need to make changes in TC when there was an opportunity to do so...

In addition -- the entire coaching staff couldn't see the obvious? The OL couldn't protect and was pretty inept in general. When the SEASON STARTS -- who is accountable for the OL and the players on the roster???

It's really simple. We totally screwed the pooch on the OL and then it took a catastrophic yeast infection to finally motivate some changes. And how many games did we drop with horrible OL play? Games that we should have won with just OK OL play.

Can you tell who is responsible for that?

I just find it weird....The oline has settled with practically street guys after incognito and martin left.

Is it players knew what was going on and it was a disctraction to them?

I mean they were giving 4 to 5 sacks a game.....And all of a sudden its fixed..

Is tannehill getting rid of the ball quicker.....quicker slants....screens...that take less time to throw the football?

Whatever the answer -- a really good staff would have made adjustments and/or roster changes a LOT sooner.

It's laughable in hindsight at this point.
