Coach Tomlin unsuccessfully tried to be a Jets strength coach during their game v. the Ravens, as he nearly tripped a guy during a kick return. Only this time his target was the ball carrier, and he missed. Still they Steelers may be short a draft pick in the spring. My guess is it'll be a late round pick, but ouch he's going to regret doing that.
thanks---I really can't see them imposing a loss draft pick for this. possibly if he had actually tackled the guy or if it affected the outcome, but I can't think of any time a team lost a draft pick for something that wasn't like tampering or a full blown premeditated scandal

It'll probably be a 7th rounder or the loss of a conditional pick or something like that.
But I guess the NFL is penalizing the Steelers as if the attempt was successful...who knows.
I watched the play and didn't even think it was that egregious. He didn't make any contact and actually side stepped at the last minute, like he thought better of it. That said, he knew what he was doing. What if it was a game winning TD return. If the coaches, assistants, or whoever know that if they actually try to pull something like that and it could save the game for their team and they'd only get a fine what would stop them? If a precedent was set that, yeah we're taking a draft pick, I don't think we'd ever have to worry about this in the future.

I don't think so. You watch the replay and it sure appears that "he" of all people is the only one in the white, the rest of the team and coaching staff is where they should be. Was he trying to trip him? I would hope he's not that much of a POS.
Was he trying to slow down the run by making the receiver reroute? ABSOLUTELY IMO!
