If we are drafting for need, it's relatively simple. O-Line at the top of the draft and LB's/Db's toward the back of the draft.

O-Line is a clear top priority. Followed by LB, and CB.

Luxury picks are WR, TE, and S.

Don't even consider picks are QB, and RB.

As much as it pains me to say it, there's little doubt that we need to go early and often with offensive lineman. If you think about it, only one guy is even arguably worthy of being brought back- Pouncey. Martin-gone, Incognito-gone, Jerry-should be gone (waited long enough for him to come into camp in shape), Tyson Clabo--GONE. What's even more important than who we pick is that the resident ballboy, Ireland, isn't the one making the picks. If Ross doesn't get anything else right, he needs to fire Ireland. Please, for all of our sakes.

Doesn't matter.

As long as we have the same head coach they probably won't see the field anyway.

We haven't seen Gillessiee so far. We saw Dion Sims only once.

This head coach doesn't believe in playing rookies. Dion Jordan was injured early so that might explain the slowness of getting him on the field but had he not had that excuse, I wonder.

Philbin seems to think that once you win the job in preseason, you only lose playing time due to injury. Just my theory.

I think there's a disconnect between Ireland and Philbin.

Ireland has had plenty of time to assemble a team. Get someone Philbin approves of and get the players he wants.

You don't think Ireland and Philbin work closely to get the right players for Philbin's system?
How about coaches?
Do you think it was Ireland's plan to hire an offensive line coach that had never ever coached in the NFL in any capacity?
And now that we have the worst o-line in the history of the NFL do you think it is Ireland that is resisting the need to fire this o-line coach and replace him?

the line has been really bad for a long time. not just during philbin's term.

and I think Ireland has the final say. sure they work together but how long does the guy get?

rick speilman stunk here. he still stinks in minny. I think these guys that are in charge of the personnel need to be held accountable when the team lacks talent.

we're relying on a 2nd year Qb to carry the team because we have no oline or running game.

is that philbin's fault?

The team has enough talent to play with and even dominate the best teams in the first half. The fall-off in the second half is on the coaches, not a lack of talent.

Show Ireland the door and make sure Philbin is behind him.

Depends on FA, but it's safe to say we'll see a couple OL drafted. I'd like to see a DT and LB drafted as well.

Our rookies have sucked with the exception of one or two plays.

The draft is going to depend on who we resign from our own FA.

I would resign these players...

Starks, Solia, Grimes,

Sign Eugene Monroe. LT's are few and far between in this draft and will probably draft too low to get either of the top two tackles.

In that scenario, I take the best LB'er available in round 1 and the best RT or OG in rounds two and three.

Deffenitly take a fa tackle and I would draft best lber and safty first two rounds. Then take a tackle round three and four.

How did THAT work out??
Any more "original" ideas?

Use the money smartly. Put money on OL that you know will be good starters, instead of bring in guys who you hope will be good, i.e., Clabo and the rest of the OL who have been either sitting on the bench or inactive.

How much money is tied up in the guys who either haven't played all season or have just gotten on the active roster because of the fiasco and injuries?

so did scott linehan suddenly turn into a great offensive coordinator or is it the talent he has in calvin Johnson?

it all starts with the talent evaluator.

The problem is that you can't trust our brain-trust to either pick the right players or even to recognize what we have when we have it (Did you see Reggie Bush yesterday) or even play the newbies to see what we've got.

I remember LOTS of DOLFANS on MANY different Boards saying "enough of drafting OL or picking up OLmen in F/A: GET SOME PLAYMAKERS". Well, what good are "playmakers" w/o a QB who gets enough time to play the position competently???

So...WHERE ARE ALL OF YOU??? We now have quite a few "weapons", and a disciplined and skilled QB who doesn't get enough time to spit. And we're losing! And losing games that we should win.

I look around the League and see a few truly mediocre QBs, w/o enough "NFL QB ability/brains" to fart and chew gum at the same time, playing at least decent football. Why? Because they get 5 or 6 "Mississippi" to deliver. And look at BRADY. Great QB for sure, but I have OFTEN (repeat, OFTEN) seen him standing back there, still "reading", at 7 Mississippi!!! My GRANDMOTHER could do well at QB in the NFL if given 7 Mississippi, and she's been dead for 30 years.

We'll have a LOT of "caproom" again this next off-season. Last year, we did, too, and loaded up on "weapons" while taking a couple of "bargain-basement" and flawed/has-been OLmen. Let's not make the same mistake twice. This year at least, we don't have to spend megabucks on "weapons". So, let's get it right this time: if there's a very good OT out there, GET HIM and don't delay/be cheap: cheap gets you doggy doo-doo, at best! And if there's a very good G out there, get HIM as well. And don't be cheap about THAT, either!

This team is close to being able to dominate despite some mistakes personnel department. Those mistakes/omissions can be CORRECTED w/o too much difficulty. (1) Get the BEST T and G in F/A, and don't be cheap about it; (2) re-sign our own F/As, except the "deadweight", especially OL "deadweight"; (3) draft both a G and T in the first 3 rounds; (4) Beyond that, all I'd look for is a CB and MAYBE a LB, and a "KR/PR specialist"...SPECIFICALLY for KR/PR only. (I put #4 in there because our present KR/PR has next to no "impact" as such, but i/m/o may just be a darned good HB!!!

That's about it: GO, FINS!

Did it ever cause anyone to wonder that having lost not only Igcognito and Martin but Pouncey as well (three of the five blocking offensive linemen).........................that we are actually protecting Tanny BETTER than when they were there?

When those guys were there, Tanny would get sacked in the first of three Mississippi's after the snap.

In the last couple of games, he only gets sacked after about 5 or more seconds and when he clearly should have thrown the ball into the cheap seats at the stadium.

I think Tanny is so determined to make something, even out of nothing, that he is losing sight on the big picture and the ole saying, "Live to fight another day."
