Why do you use your timeouts to help the opposing team? Was he that cocky we would win the game? No, I think he is dumb as nails.....
Granted, we got screwed and tattooed with the bullshit kuechly call at the end of the half. After that call, I knew we would lose the game. I was right too, the benefits of being a dolphin fan for 30 plus years.
not to pile on you chambers(we are all a bit on edge im sure) but if you spell moron wrong(esp in a title ) you got to expect a little ball bustin..that said you should probably edit the topic title...am with you though didnt understand the TOs as they let the panthers focus better IMO
Thi is a football board not a @#$%& Mensa meeting. Wtf was the futt trying to say? Philbin is the reason we have as many wins as we do? How many on here agry with such a maranic statement?
there's lots to complaint about but philbin's use of TOs on that drive is far down the list. If Wallace catches that pass at the end of the game he's looking pretty smart. without the TOs there is no time left on the clock to try to for tying FG (if we held them to that) or a TD (which we ended up needing). I see the point about trying to make the other team "rush" but there was plenty of time left (not like it was 10 sec left)

The field goal just before half and the timeouts at the end of the game were all unnecessary mistakes that cost us the game.... We got out coached from the last 2 minutes of the second half to the end of the game... The players did enough to win the game... The coach didn't........

We HAD to take those timeouts. It didn't make any sense to do otherwise. They were gonna run the clock down and kick the field goal to tie us. They were in field goal range after that unsportmanslike conduct call. From then on it was OUR CLOCK not theirs. They had overtime in their pocket. The only question was, even assuming they tied it, whether we would have enough time left for a winning field goal instead of taking our chances in overtime.
Now what screwed the pooch was that we let them score a touchdown. But not calling the timeouts, they would have at least tried one long play and given how we were unable to stop NUMEROUS long plays, they probably would have made it anyway like they did after those timeouts.
but Philbin is to blame for the loss. JUST NOT BY WHAT THIS THREAD SAYS, I'll reveal why in another post.
Yeah the timeouts were smart. And letting them get that FG before halftime falls completely on Coyles shoulders. The reason we lost is lack of execution in the 2nd half resulting in tons of missed opportunities. It's tricky to divvy up blame for lack of execution, I would say an equal amount falls on the coordinators, Philbin, and the players.

This team is going nowhere. I stopped watching them, watching the leaders of the group....denver and the pats, these are the 2 teams that will be the AfC Championship game. You really see determinatation and the "want" to be in the elite status. All of the other teams are fluff.
NFC will be either Seattle or San Fran as the winner of that title game.
These teams were my picks at the beginning of the season, actually before the season even began. Last year I also called the SB teams in the beginning of the year.
It all starts with a "System" and we have not had a "system" since the Shula era. Those are the facts boys and girls.

If I recollect correctly, those TOs were called to allow enough time for Miami to make a game winning drive (if needed). The way it turned out, Carolina scored and Miami still had time on the clock to do something. No tOs = no time on the clock.
