I've been an Ireland apologist on this board for quite some time, but it seems like he won't survive the Martin/Incognito fiasco. Although i've defended him in the past, it's time, he has drafted a bunch of average players, not one super star that I can think of? As a result of that, we now have a very average team. My question is, if/when he gets canned, what scenario would you guys want. I'm voting for a clean slate, I don't always agree with a quick trigger finger on firing coaches, but Philbin is not showing me too much at this point, like the players Ireland has drafted, he's very average at best. Not sure I wanna go the Gruden/Cowher route, but i'm afraid that's the route Ross will go because he's desperate to win and create a buzz in S. Fla. Thoughts?

Gruden/cowher won't come to this disaster.

Philbin needs to go. Its time for Ross to man up and choose a new coach and GM. Not Aponte she stays where she is. As before I like Darrel Bevell as HC and would be searching for a GM who has experience in a successful nfl org, NY Giants, Pitt, SF etc.

No one wants to be around this organization. Look at manning, heck we could have offered him a billion dollars and he wouldn't want to be in Miami. Face it, it's a black mark to be associated with this club right now.

Bottom line is, say what you want, we will be in the SB within 2 years. Its all about the media and the hype, going from this to victory. "human spirit can endure anything". It sells papers. It's all about what sells. $$$$$.

Look at the Boston bombing tragedy. It was going to be whoever team was next in line right after that. Baseball was it. I called that in the beginning.

I've never seen Gruden do anything that makes me think he's a competent HC. I might look at him as a QB's coach.

Gruden would still be better than any coach we've had in quite some time. But i agree there are MUCH better experienced candidates out there, and HAVE been. But of course we haven't had a coach with NFL head coaching experience since who...Wanny...?

I got me eyes on Eric DeCosta (Ravens) to be the GM for the next rebuild, let him pick his own Head Coach.

The Dolphins may not have 100% say who the next GM is going to be. Our next coach is only going to be interim until Miami has proven that the house is in order. What is going to suck is that we are probably going to not have a 1st round pick next year because of all of this mess.

I don't know. Truth is the expert on the NFL rules. However, don't really think they can take our draft picks away from us just because we have an awful locker room atmosphere (even assuming that is the problem) that allows bullying.

I think in order to take draft picks away, you have to either do spygate like Bellicheat or bounty-gate or something that AFFECTS OTHER TEAMS. Just hurting your own players probably does not qualify.

Just my understanding based on no special knowledge, but maybe THE Truth can weigh in and answer the question.

Early 70s - Super Bowl champions. A superior team.

Late 70s and early 80s - Playoff regulars. Made it to the SB. Always a playoff team. Very Good team.

Late 80s And 90s - Always competitive. Playoff team most years. Sometimes deep into playoffs. Decent team overall with a great quarterback and a few other outstanding players.

Early 00's - Hoping to make playoffs, but rarely do. A team searching for a good QB. Marginal talent with a few outstanding players.

Ever since - Not a strong competitor in the division. Very few outstanding players relatative to other teams in the league. Hoping for .500 seasons.

Not a good trend.

Bad trend.

How about....

Hire a President who has the savy to be a face for the fracnshise with an eye for managing people and then go get a personnel guy like Scot Mclaughlin to actually find a few star players....and then they can make an informed descision about the coaching staff.

Sometimes the best personnel guy isn't the best spokesperson or front man.

Hell, even Carl Peterson would be a better leader than Egomaniac, Ireland.

We need the football equivalent of Pat Riley. Can we find that?

Another interesting note:

In week 9, 6 out of the top 10 rated tackles were either rookies or free agents in 2013.

And Ireland signed two LB's in the off season????
