We would have won if Jimmy Wilson had gotten 6 on the pick

Yes and no.
It definitely would have put Miami up by a larger score, but even after our FG, TB just ran it down Miami's throat to score the winning TD. Who's to say that wouldn't have happened if Wilson had scored?
Where did Miami lose the game?
(1) Showing up in the first place.
(2) Not playing like professionals until the last drive of the first half, then dieing when Miami had a 1st and goal at the TB 6 and ended up with a FG. Wheeler missing tackles and the stupid penalty on TB's QB, giving them a first down instead of forcing them to punt. Miami's strength being their weakness last night (front seven). Poor OLine play, managing only 2 yards rushing and getting RT killed on two straight plays with Miami running out of time to move down the field and score to either tie it or win. And last but not least, wrong time for a 2-point conversion try.
To me, if you ask me the biggest player mistake in the whole game that probably put the nail in the coffin (although admittedly we were on life support then) was the decision by Thigpen to fair catch a ball AT THE FIVE YARD LINE that was clearly headed for the endzone.
Now, a player of his tenure should not do that but I can't help but think coaching.
I mean if he had caught the ball and tried to run and had been tackled, you could shrug it off and say "Well, maybe he thought he saw an opening" but when you FAIR CATCH, it can only be because you think that the ball is going to be dead at the one yard line. If you look at that ball, no way it was going anywhere but into the endzone.
Starting at the 20 in a last ditch drive would have been a lot better than starting at the 5 yard line.
Obviously he is a talented RETURNER, with emphasis on that.
but a returner is more than just being able to make yardage.
A returner is half physical talent and half brains and while he may be an "A+" in talent, he is an "F-" in brains.
But then again, to beat the dead horse, that's the simplest thing for the coaches to coach and that's when you stay in the endzone and when you fair catch the ball.
I know some of you are gonna come out of the woodwork and say "He should have learned that even in high school. Why are you putting everything on the coaches?"
Because, it's obvious that he DIDN'T learn it in high school or college and you are a pretty POOR coach if you let players keep making fundamental mistakes on the grounds that they SHOULD HAVE known or learned better before they got here.
It's like the old debate about God. Kennedy said "Here on Earth, God's work must truly be our own."
But some people say, "if God had intended that, he would have done it."
Leading to the reply, "so if God had intended us to do ANYTHING, then he would have done it himself."
No, The Miami Dolphin PRESENT coaching staff is responsible for Thigpen making these dumb decisions in these games.
