Jason Brown wants Gaurd money. He does get to touch the ball every play, so he may be worth it. Its alot to consider when there are some better than decent Center prospects in the DRAFT.
Brown's agent says he wants to play where he 'fits' best. They've cutoff talks with Baltimore.
There's NO SALARY CAP NEXT YEAR, so maybe we can defer money till then, if needbe.
While L. Coles might get $4M on the open market, hard to believe the Dolphin F.O. will commit that much in 2009 Cap money for a him.
Also, while 2010 has no CAP, isn't there an expectation there will be one? And if there is a CAP, hopefully there is not $9-$10M in DEAD cap space....Lehan (cornerback) for $3.3M and no longer in Football, another $2.5M for QB's (Feely/McCown)!
I think we're around $8M under the cap. It likely doesn't leave room for Jason Brown. If we can get a CB for around $4M, that would make sense. We still need some cap money to fill out the roster and sign draft picks. But, I thought I saw an article that the cap went up yesterday? Did anyone else see this? Does anyone know if the cap numbers being thrown around include the adjusted cap?
Note: I'll update my 1st post to add Y. Bell
I believe that helps...
Yes, I believe V. Holliday contract will be either:
1.) lowered (unlikely, needs Holliday's agreement)
2.) Extended/restructured (I believe this is the last year, not sure)
With a deep draft at Center, it will be interesting to see what Free Agent center the Dolphins pick up now that there is much less cap room. I say they bid for Brown and if the price gets to brake-the-bank levels (for centers) they drop out.

This is such a cool time of year. And if you have MADDEN09 you can play the UPDATED video game with the newest PHINS. I haven't actually done it yet. But will.
McFADDEN is whats needed now more than anything. Because there are some good CENTER options in the DRAFT
I believe it was reported several days ago that the actual salary cap is higher this year than was expected, allowing a little more room to wiggle. I'm not sure if the sources everyone is listing has taken this into account or not.
Doesn't the 3 mil hit on Wilford only apply if we cut him? What if we trade him for, say, a 5th or 6th round pick? I'd like to see us package Torbor in the trade as well.

No, if we cut Wilford, his cap hit becomes $4.5M. The $3M is if we just keep him on the roster. The thing is, coming off such a disastrous season, no one is going to take on his contract, even if we only asked for a 7th rounder.
