Pretty much 'holic.

He just can't admit when he's wrong.

Holic, Carpenter was a pro bowl kicker up to that point and since that point he has been on a downhill slide.

At the time I screamed that it cost us the game because we went for a long bomb instead of TRYING to run the ball to get him closer.

I'll bet if your entire savings was on winning that game, I'll bet you would clearly disagree with Philbin's decision to go for a Hail Mary on third down instead of running the ball to get him closer. It's as simple as that.

You guys can talk all your macho talk about being paid to make the kick or whatever. Bottom line Philbin not only screwed Carpenter but screwed us out of that game.

And that's why to this day I don't like him.

You know it's amazing that as many times as I have tried to stress the subtleties of the point I am trying to make, only Northeast has understood...and of course BNF. Everybody else has been unable to discuss the matter above the level of the reptilian brained thoughts of 1) a kicker should make a 48 yarder more than a 54 yarder and 2) a kicker is paid to make those kicks.

I know my posts are long and boring, you guys, but don't try to respond to me if all you can say to yourself is....."Boy that's long. I won't read but let me try and figure out what he is saying without reading all he wrote. Oh, he seems to be mad at Philbin for asking Carpenter to make a 48 yard kick which Carpenter lost. Wow! That's crazy.

It's like that thread about whether Tanny was making a forward pass or a fumble and whether the refs got it right.

Only a few people (certainly NOT including Truth) actually read the NFL rules EVEN THOUGH TRUTH reprinted it. He didn't even read it. or at least had an interpretation of it that even a 3rd grader would not have adopted.

I don't know what Vince Lombardi or Paul Brown would have done in that situation although I am pretty sure my guess would be right.

I was just a kid playing midget football when they were coaching.

I DO know however what Don Shula would have done and I also know for that matter what John Wooden would have done.

They would take the surest route to a win that they could and they would not f*ck away any part of that chance.

So you guys go own defending Philbin until he does the same thing and it's clearer for you to see.

Okay, lol, enough about the kickers. Let's root for Philly tonight against a potential playoff rival.
