Week 2 @ Colts
Posted by: eesti ()

The Colts didn't look all that good against the Raiders but it's so early in the season that it's hard to get a gauge on some teams.

For instance, was Miami's o-line that bad or was Clevland that good.

Were the Colts playing bad or are the Raiders better than most think?

I don't think their defense can stop our offense and I think our defense is for real. They will give Luck trouble this week. That being said, Luck is a hell of a QB and will score some points.

The Raiders had 4 sacks on Luck but they relied on blitzes. Two of those sacks came from DB's and two more came from RDE Lamar Houston and LDE Jason Hunter.

Our defense was able to get sacks (and pressure) on Cleveland with our front 4.

We will be facing two former Dolphins on the Colts interior this week. Center, Sampson Satele and LG, Donald Thomas.

I think Solia will eat Satele's lunch (leaving Starks one on one) and no one will be able to contain Wake.

The key will be be covering the Colts TE's Dwayne Allen and Fleener. Luck will be looking to dump the ball off quick with pressure.

I think Grimes will stick with Reggie Wayne. Our Db's should be able to get some more picks this week if week 1 was any indication of things to come.

Should be another nerve wrecker on the road before we come home to face the Falcons!

I think our run game will bounce back........I guess 30 yrds would be considered a bounce back though

Is there any way to see a full replay of that Colts Raiders game? Any suggestions?

The Raiders are not as bad as people think...and the Colts were totally unprepared to face a mobile QB, but Andrew Luck is a great QB and saved them from the loss.

This game should be a sort of Immovable Object vs Irresistible Force on both sides of the ball. If the Junior Horses come to this game unprepared, we might just steal a win at INDY...and in fact it is what I am predicting. We put the pressure on LUCK and Tanny chops up the inferior Colt D for a 24-20 Victory! Go Dolphins!

Last year Indy squeaked by us but there was some bad football being played by Miami...and I don't mean Ryan Tannehill.

Seam Smith got burned for two TD's while Luck threw for over 400 yards. That's not happening this year.

Smith also DROPPED (shocker) a sure interception that would have put us in the redzone with a chance to win the game or at least tie with a FG.

We also had NO pass rush outside of Cameron Wake who had 1 sack. That was the only one of the day!

I think things are a little different this year.

Their O-line could be worse than ours.

I expect our defense to make its share of plays.

I don't think their defense is nearly as good as Cleveland's so there's hope we may rediscover our running game.

If we win the turnover battle we should be in a position to win the game.

This week we will see just how good the browns defense was. Or how good the phins defense really is.

24-21 miami wins a tight game.

IMHO the dolphins have an even better pass rush than last year.

If our DL wins on the LOS and we do a decent job on the OL we have a very good chance of winning...

My guess is the Browns hold Ray Rice under 70 yards this week.

This week it's Cam Wake vs Gosder Cherilus...a very good pass protector but will be overmatched.

and...Vernon/Shelby vs Anthony Castonzo...The Colts had the 31st ranked o-line last year (PFF). AC struggles in pass pro....

Right guard Mike McGlynn had a rating of -25 last year and was referred to as a "dud"...Our DT's may have a field day...Maybe another 1.5 sacks (and a bird) for Starks.

I predict 4 sacks this week on Luck. He's got great pocket presence otherwise it would be higher.

Darrius Heyward-Bey had 3/33 last week vs his former team. Luck rushed for 38 yards and a score. Reggie Wayne had 96 yards and a td and TE Allen had one catch for 20 yard TD.

They didn't put up a lot of yeards last week but were efficient.

I don't know how ayone can ever beat the Colts. Their logo is just too karmic and feng shui. A QB named Luck with a lucky horse shoe on his helmet. That's unstoppable!

Cam will just need to turn Luck on his head so the luck runs out of the horseshoe.

To be fair that move was done by his father Bob Irsay otherwise, he would have "cleanly" outdouched us.

It's simply amazing to me that Miami is still having a problem with their offensive line after going through how many GMs and coaches? IMO, OL is where Miami needs to focus in next year's draft and FA. Spend the money (I usually don't say that).

Seems like we've been doing that forever and still ending up having o line problems.

I'm not saying we shouldn't do so but I am only sighing.

We will have plenty of areas where we need to focus next year...3 of our starting linemen are FA's...

Chris Clemons: Needs to be resigned. If it ain't broke....

Tyson Clabo: Not much chance he is resigned especially if he plays like he did on Sunday

Brent Grimes: He may earn a new contract but it probably won't be in Miami. Depends on the two rookies and how they progress this year. We may be in ok shape. Patterson is under contract and looking good on one side.

Richie Incognito: Coaches love him. Probably will resign. Would be stupid to let him walk and then try to replace him but he will be 31 next year.

John Jerry: buhuy

Dustin Keller: Maybe on the cheap on a one year deal....AGAIN.

Both of these guys were offered contract last week but were low-balled. Chance are we resign Soliai. Starks actions lately are not endearing him to coaches....

Paul Soliai: resign hard to find NT.

Randy Starks: will walk. Odrick will take over and we draft a 2nd rounder to groom.

That leaves us with a need at starting RG and RT and possibly LT. (LG if Incog walks)

We may not have a choice but to go after linemen in the draft AND FA.

We can take a run at UFA, Brandon Albert...again.

Paul Soliai (+2.9) - I tweeted this during the game, but, simply put, Soliai is a beast. He had his way with the Browns' offensive line, shoving the center, guard, or center and guard back into the middle of the pocket on multiple plays, and he was a force in both the pass rush and run defense elements of the game. For a player the team seems to take out when the opponents are in passing situations, Soliai played well against the pass rush on the 32 times he attacked Brandon Weeden.
