Do U think he would be a good fit, and an upgrade at guard?

Well, essentially we replaced Samuda for Watkins. Samuda was pretty abysmal this preseason, so it's probably not a bad move. Maybe a change a scenery will benefit Watkins.

Anybody is better than Samuda.

It's worth a try. Josh Samuda was really struggling. Perhaps Watkins has more talent. We shall see.

The question with Samuda is whether or not you believe he's reached his ceiling as a player. He looked really bad at times. But he also looked good at times.

Inconsistency is common in young players. If you think he can get past that and improve then you keep him.

Apparently, they don't think he's got much room for improvement.

I liked Watkins coming out of college. Can't help but wonder why he's struggled so badly the last two years.

Samuda is NOT a legit NFL talent and had no business making the 53.

This dude should be a huge upgrade tho that really isn't saying anything in this situation.

But Watkins could be a legit FA theft

I'm not so sure...Watkins was a huge bust in Philly. People say he is just not into football. He gave up 31 hurries in 23 games. Also has chronic ankle injuries.

He had the talent but never showed it. Most likely a filler until we sign the next guy.

Just a bit off the mark it seems...

We have to hope he finds his game and likes the situation in Miami.

Could be a steal. Most likely a flop. No biggie considering we dumped some trash to take a look...

It's hard to believe that RG is supposedly the easiest position to play on the line and Ireland can't seem to find a quality road grater out of the 3.5 billion men on the plant. We have been searching for years. We never should have let Donald Thomas go...

Wouldn't be surprised to see Lance Louis re-signed after week 1

Thats just it eesti. We aren't looking for a road grader.

We are looking for a rg who can pass block and pull... Like incognito.

They are tougher to find.

Maybe we get lucky with Watkins.

I would argue that we are looking for a player who can run block AND pass block. It's still the right side and we need to be able to run the ball as well as pass protect. The term "road grater" was not intended to describe a one-sided player. Pulling is just part of the running game.

I would take Watkins over Waters just because he is younger, and eager for a fresh start. Also Watkins is very coachable. I think he will help this team. Were as Waters best days are behind him.

You can coach all you want but if the guy is volunteering to lug gear for firemen on his days off instead of working his craft then....hmmmm

although this is a good sign..

Breath of fresh air for #DannyWatkins just signed with the #Dolphins. Struggled as many linemen do with HowardMudd's technique.

Yes...lets go with the 36 year old guy who agreed to a deal 5 weeks ago, then pulled a no show and said his heart wasn't in it, only to spend the last 5 weeks eating donuts and watching Tyler Perry films. smiling bouncing smiley

The last part sounds more like our starting RG.

Watkins can play either right or left side and he surely won't be rushed into playing just yet - clearly a backup role for now. Starting over should do him good, he's under no pressure. I bet when he does play he'll be better here than he was in Philly.

I think Watkins takes over for John Fat Azz Jerry maybe this week maybe next week. Our line play has too get better it starts by replacing the buffet destroyer.
