Well if you look strictly at last years records, changes our opponents have endured over the off season and the home/away set up I don't see any game save maybe the @Steelers where we COULDN'T be competitive, and if we're streaking at that point who knows.
That said, based on recent history and my naturally critical nature, HERE is my 'realistic' (props to eesti's signature line) assessment:
1-4 going in to break, evey body has again given up on Dolphins. Myself, BNF and several others are clamoring to bench Tannehil and then trade him for someone who can design a good helmet logo
Then we beat Buffalo and HOLD ON....NEW ENGLAND at home.
At 3-4 we then pull above .500 by beating the Bengals and Bucs.
@ 5-4, maybe tied for the lead in the division and in the perfect position to start a playoff run,...We FLOP in front of two teams we SHOULD beat JUST WHEN it would help our cause the most. SD and Carolina slip by us at home after some terrible turnovers, silly penalties, blown overages, or poor special teams play.
We bounce back against the Jets and still hold out hope because we aren't 'mathematically eliminated'.
At 6-6 we go on the road in December against a good team trying to keep playoff hopes alive...doesn't happen, we get a whuppin'. Still disappointed and with not much to play for, the playoff bound Pats spank us again the next week with a little help from their home town refs...
Now resigned to our fate and with the players looking forward to Cancun, the Bills and Jets go down in defeat leaving us fans looking forward to next year and wondering what would have happened had we won those two games in weeks 11 and 12 that we SHOULD have.
That's how I see it. Someone once said: "Always look at the worst possible outcome. That way your never disappointed and every once in a while, you are pleasantly surprised."
Heres to hoping I am pleasantly surprised this year...
