Not a surprise -- with a spinal fusion its probably a longer-term blessing for this kid to get out of pro ball before he's a permanent cripple. But of course he'll sign somewhere else and do more damage to his spine.
Like I said in a different thread. Collectively speaking, these dudes aren’t very bright.

We had 6 CB's and 4 saftey's. We were only keeping 9 DB's.
Grimes, Patterson, Davis, Taylor, Jones, Clemons and Wilson were all on the team.
That leaves 2 spots and three guys: Carroll, Marshall and McCray.
The really like McCray, and with Clemons signed to a 1 year contract there was a good chance they were going to keep him as the 4th S.
Carroll is a core ST guy so he had the inside track for the 5th CB.
Marshall has a 4.5M cap number this year and next.
I'm just not sure why you do it now and not wait another week.
It appears that Patterson will start outside and then move inside to the nickle while Carroll plays outside in the nickle defense. Hopefully Jamar Taylor and/or Will Davis can push for that spot by mid-year.

Nolan Carroll is the worst CB on the team. Year in and out he is the worst. He plays way to far off the receiver. His INT was a lucky one. Henne even knew to pick on him in the previous game. No way should he be the 3rd CB.
