Dion Jordan reinjured the same shoulder.

I really didn’t like this move for the same reason as taking Long #1 in the entire draft -- anyone you grab that high should be physically sound -- and this kid was anything but physically sound.
It seems evident that after so many months after surgery the shoulder had not healed properly and that's (most likely) an indicator of another procedure on the horizon.
No matter how you spin this -- it's not GOOD NEWS that the kid is still having "issues" (be they supposedly minor and/or precautionary) with the same shoulder he had surgery on 6 months ago.
Sure -- I agree -- lets HOPE for the best. But that doesn’t change the fact that Ireland rolled the dice with a lot of injured players and -- sometimes the snake bites back. That's all. After soLong I'm not keen on burning super high #1 picks of dudes coming off major shoulder surgery.
They drafted him in April. this is Aug. Give him to next season. The Potenial is there and I like the fact that we didn't play it safe and grab another lineman. You have to take chances and this was the draft to do it in with so many Picks.
I agree about taking chances but NOT with the #3 pick in the entire draft. Like I said, I HOPE the "issue" goes away beacuse the kid looks like a potential BIGTIME player. I specifically love his nasty streak... And of course he's a legit athletic freak.
But. I already had serious concerns the way they were holding him back -- 5 months after the surgery. Now with this "minor setback" it seems clear the shoulder has NOT healed as they expected.
Beyond that -- there's no way you can justify trading UP to #3 and taking a player you KNOW is a severe injury risk and mostlikely won't contribute much his first year. So -- that means -- IMO -- this situation is NOT what they expected and its possible Jordan will go IR if the shoulder needs more "work" before he's totally sound.
The longer this lingers I think the odds of needing a 2nd surgery grow expontially. My opinion. Of course.
Other than that -- everyone agrees the kid needs to bulk up a bit for the NFL game. It's going to really hard to do that with a bad shoulder. I mean -- you can't lift heavey with that injury in the background.
Dion Jordan is probably a good prospect. However, he'll never rise to the occasion until that bum should is 95%. It's going to take more therapy. In the meantime, we wait. Once, again, we wait. We all hope and pray this draft selection will be successful.
I agree, the young man needs to add some bulk to his frame. Just 10 pounds will help.

apparently he did. he is up to 260. They think he can be like JT was for us, and I don't think JT was ever heavier than that. He had a pretty skinny frame too

I think 260 is his "wish weight." That would be 12+ lbs in a few months. Again -- HOW are you going to add significant upper body mass with a bad shoulder?
That's precisely why soLong's power game fell off the cliff -- he couldn't pound the huge weights. He even admitted he was "stronger" in college (before he ripped the shoulder up). After the second surgery (as a Pro) he was nowhere near the dominant mofo he was in his first 2 years…
Then -- they also drafted Dallas Thomas -- ANOTHER shoulder surgery. And Jamar Taylor was also coming off injury, right?
It certainly seems Ireland believes he can fish significant "value" from players discounted by injury -- but that only pays off sometimes and sometimes you get totally burned…
If it all works out (the injuries) Ireland might look like a genius. I hope he does but…

thing is, we haven't really been taking these guys at a discount despite the injury. Jordan wasn't going higher than #3 even if healthy. Jamar T was a 2d rounder all along. It's not like SF getting Lattimore in the 5th where if healthy he'd be top 20
