Anyone else reading how Moore is looking awesome and Tannehill is still sucking?

How Moore throws a pretty deep ball and Tannehill has yet to hit Wallace?

I heard it was rough day today for both Qb's, but Tannehill gave up 2 pick six's... The defense had their way in the morning...

Moore is playing with the 2s and 3s.
QB(Tanney) and WRs still getting used to each other.
May be a good sign that our starting D-line and secondary is vastly improved.
Also the experience factor greatly favors Moore at this stage of TC.

Wouldn't read too much into it being so early in camp.

It wouldn't surprise me if we started shopping Tannehill this week while he still has SOME value.

Dolphin- Tannehill has 2 new starting WRs' and a new starting TE. They dont have any timing or chemistry.. Today Gibson was on the finsiders and said Hartline and Tannehill have unbelievable timing with each other. And him and Wallace need to keep putting in work so they can improve their timing with Ryan.... SO this is kind of expected.... There is no chemistry between 3 out of the 4 people Tannehill has been throwing to on the first team the last couple of days... I am no Tannehill excuse maker, but come on, it is the first 3 days with three new guys... I also heard that the defense knew whether the offense was going to run or pass today in each drill or plays they were working on. So the defense had that advantage as well going for them...

Beside all that, bottom line is the offensive line got abused, which is good, but also bad. Good that the D is on top of it this early, and bad that the OL hasn't yet picked it up.

Not easy to set back there and throw when the DLine is all over you.

It's early....defense is usually ahead of the offense at this point in the season anyway.

My money is still on Tanne (even though he was not the qb i wanted). Its good that phins is unloading the full blitz package on him. It will accelerate his learning. I believe Tanne is smart and will come around, he seems to be hitting the TE well and that's important on blitzes.

I think tannehill will get a lot of reps in pre season. He needs them. Too many new faces.

And moore is nothing moore than a backup......................If by any chance tannehill doesnt work out we need to draft another qb in the first round.

Knock on wood.

This is going to be a GREAT QB draft. So if at the end of the year you think RT is a flop, then we need to take one of the following:

Teddy Bridgewater
Johnny Manziel
Tajh Boyd
David Fales
AJ McCarron
Aaron Murray

There are a handful of other guys who could end up being high 2nd's or late 1st by the time the draft rolls around.

Not that I think we'll be looking at any of them. I believe RT will be a pretty good NFL QB for the next 10 years.

Even so, if you need a QB, this is a damn good year to go get one.

I wouldnt mind if we drafted another qb in the first round next year.........................

The question is can we afford 2 qbs drafted in the first round?

As long as the WR-TE-OL-RB -DB-LB battle is settled this year and we showed that we have the right pieces i wouldnt mind.

Hopefully they can all get in sync by the middle or end of pre season.

The only way Miami would draft a QB in next year's first round is if RT stinks up the joint. I really cannot foresee that happening.

Looks like Vernon is the favorite to start at DE. he worked with Wake in the offseaon and is working hard to get better.

Also think Sturgis is going to have to be perfect for the rest of the preseason to make the team. Probably going to be a waste of a 5th round pick....could have taken a gamble on Swope or David Quessenberry. We'll see.

I don't consider a 5th on the nations premier kicker "a waste".

A top K can mean the difference between the playoffs and staying home.
It's not like Carpenter didn't cost us a game or two by missing any important kicks or anything last year...

I hope he wins the job and turns into a top 3 K, or I hope it lights a fire under Carpenter, and turns him into a Pro Bowler. The K position needed a good dose of competition during this off-season. It should help.

Sturgis is going to have to be bad from here on out to lose the job.

I just hope Carpenter keeps it up. Someone (like Tcool smiley will want him if he's "winning" the job in mod August.

Truth- as I heard today mentioned and I agree, how these guys kick in preseason in the games is most likely going to carry the most weight in deciding if we keep Carpenter or go with Sturgis... IMO, the salary implications is a pretty big factor and the fact Carpenter did his part to not win us 2 games last year we should have won... I think because of that the new coaches have a bad taste in their mouth from Carpenter... Kicker's get so few opportunities, that when the coaches remember losing 2 games they could have won, because you missed a kick, and you have no history with them, not a good position to be in....
I think Carpenter is a hell of a kicker, but last year he wasn't... I am a Gator and I am not completely sold on Sturgis. Not that I am some fan of or scout on college kickers... But for us to have drafted a kicker, Izzi being so high on the kid, and our GM being an ex kicker, I imagine there is pretty good reason they went after Sturgis...

Unless Carpenter renegotiates for half his current salary I just don't see it coming down to who makes the most kicks.

Sturgis can't suck, that goes without saying. But if he's even close to 80% for preseason, or if he finishes strong, he's going to get the job.

The problem with drafting a kicker/punter is that it's either hit or miss in the first year. There is no developmental period. It's not like taking any other position because other positions usually get time to develop. You can keep mutiple lineman but only one kicker.

If all we wanted to do was bring in competition we could have chosen from a handfull of kickers that had as good or better years than Carpenter in 2012 or signed an undrafted FA. Yes, you get a cheap kicker for a few years but it doesn't improve your depth, special teams or give you a player who could be a solid starter in a year or two....potentially even a star.

If he is alreay choking in practice on long kicks, what is he going to do in a more stressful sitation with players actually coming after him or when the game is on the line?

I think it's more about being clutch than worrying about a 2.68 mil dollar salary. Carpenter only had a few bad games since he got here and they happened to be last year. They can sign him to an extension to relieve that cap hit this year.

If we are relying on FG's this year, we probably have bigger issues. Hopefully our kicker is putting up many more extra points this year.

Carpenter beat out Jay Feely back in 2008. The job wasn't handed to him.

It's too soon to tell about Sturgis but still something to look out for...

I hope they know what they are doing moving Incognito to right and putting rookie Dallas Thomas next to Jonathan Martin on the left.... That line up on the left sides would scare me if I was the QB.... Also if Incognito is moved to right guard, that isnt a good sign for him... We dont need to be paying our RG the type of money Richie is getting paid........ COuld just be a part of the versatility training for players... we shall see.... but that is a big move if it holds...

I doubt this is anything but experiementation. If we switched Ingoc to start the year, we'd have 4 out of 5 starters at new positions (I am still viewing Martin as a RT since he played there mostly last year) including a rookie, which is a really terrible thing since it takes awhile to get continuity (think how much Sporanos' constant tinkering set us back)

Carpenter will be the first player to make the team this year.

Because he has no competition.

If he loses another game with another last second kick this year iam growing an aneurysm.
