I like the move but still have concerns at LT with Martin.. As was reported by PFF, Martin allowed more QB hurries then any tackle in football last year.. That needs to change this year one way or another...

Given Martin's numbers from last year at LT (here we go with stats, again) yeah, there is reason to worry.
But, I still say that the coaching staff will really work hard with him this off season to get him ready for the start of the regular season. From what I have read, he has also been working out on his own, so that should be a big plus.
My only concern, and it has been mentioned in reports, is if Martin goes down, who is there to replace him?

Yup. He can't maintain. He needs to step up his game.
If he doesn't, he needs to move to OG and we need to get a LT next off-season.
This kinda goes back to "you can't fix every hole in one off-season", if Martin doesn't step up (which I think he will), then LT is the #1 priority next year.

True but look at out "needs" 6 months ago...did you ever thing we would be this "ready" for the upcoming season?
At least we have some competition at LT now. Dallas Thomas will push Martin and then probably kick inside later. I still some faith in JM at LT. He seems dedicated.
I love this move. This is a quality right tackle (albeit aging) we signed and we now have competition at all line positions.

Because jlyell has the name "Eugene Monroe" in his head just like he had the RB for nawlins before that
Because they just drafted a LT with their first pick, Monroe doesn't want to move, and he's and FA after the year? I heard some Guru's on NFL radio had suggested Jerry & Marshall for Monroe. might have been a 3rd involved.
I would bet Ivory gains more than Thomas our high draft pick this year, even on a jets teams that is about the worst team one could be traded to.
Ivory is a starter for the Jets (until he gets hurt) and you are comparing his potential production to our 2nd and 3rd string players.
I think the Jets are counting on him to be their work horse back and since they have no receiving game, the run (and defense) will be the main focus.
I don't think anyone would argue that Ivory isn't a good back when healthy but for him to carry the load would be a stretch.
I think they may be in trouble. They signed 15 UFA's and none were running backs. They will need to make a RB signing after the first round of roster cuts.
