Eric Winston scheduled to work out for Miami Dolphins: The Miami Dolphins' never ending quest for a new offens...

I think McKinnie and Clabo were jedi mind tricks by Ireland to get Winston to lower his asking price, we shall see!

I think Ireland goes after the cheapest one.

I'll be shocked if we don't sign Winston, he's the youngest of the four, most durable, fits the zone blocking scheme better than the others AND his brother works for Ireland.......makes too much sense not to.

Some are saying that Dallas Thomas will get a shot at left tackle.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. I watched the film of him play LT in 2011 and he looks comfortable there. Seems that he has the footspeed, balance and strength to play there.

Sign Winston @ RT and let Dallas and Martin compete for LT

Martin was a high second rounder who was picked by some to go in the top of the first. He played LT in college for 4 years as a starter. I can't believe some think that a guy we picked in the 3d this year and played guard last season, and is coming off a torn Labrum, is a more viable option to start at LT this season than martin.
My solution for OL:

RT: Clabo or Winston
RG: Louis/Jerry/Incg if he loses LG
C: MP
LG:Incog/D Thomas
LT: Martin/McKinnie

Signing Winston or Clabo and McKinnie can't cost more than 3mm each for the season. We've got that money. We should do it, it would solve our OL at every position but LT, and give us a fall-back in McKinnie if he beats out Martin for the spot.

Martin is athletic enough to kick inside to guard. So is Dallas Thomas.

I think Martin will be better handling speed rushers whereas Thomas looks much better anchoring against power rushers.

It will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

Thomas is an option, but as of right now, Martin is Miami's LT. There will be a major battle during training camp, but I have a feeling Thomas will end up at OG. I think it is Martin's job to lose.

Signing Winston or Clabo AND McKinnie? I highly doubt two of those guys will be signed. I think McKinnie will be signing with San Diego anyway, as he is scheduled to take a physical with them.

$3M is still pretty high for what Miami plans to do. For now, they just want someone in to play for 1-year; if things go well, then discussions will go on for the following season. But, I also think a lot of that will depend upon what happens in next year's draft.

Miami wants Winston; Winston wants Miami. Now they both just have to compromise on the contract. Winston values himself too highly where Miami doesn't see that, along with only wanting to sign him for one year.

I'm not so sure Miami wants Winston. They really seem to be looking at everyone under the sun. If they wanted Winston, I think they'd have signed him already. How much $$ can he really be looking for?

I've read that he wants a longer term contract with $ome guarantee'd money in it, he's sick of bouncing around.

He signed a 4 year 22 million dollar deal last year with 4 million signing bonus and was cut... I guess if he doesnt want to bounce around he has to live up to the contracts he signs so he doesnt get cut..

I thought the Dolphins did a fine job with the Draft. But the Left Tackle situation is starting to scare me a bit. I dont trust putting a rookie there. Martin might be able to do it, but I wouldnt bet the franchise QB on that either.

How does PFF rate the free agents we are looking at now?

As long as Winston is his last name. Not his first. We also looked at Winston Justice. He sucks.

Best case scenario is Martin develops into an adequate LT.

Competition is holding up process on tackles. New Orleans, Dallas, Chicago, San Diego are all looking.

This could be a look at our starting lineup....

LT J. Martin
LG Incognito
C Pouncey
RG Lance Louis
RT Dallas Thomas

Otherwise....we sign Winston and....

LT J. Martin/Thomas
LG Incognito/Thomas
C Pouncey
RG Lance Louis/Jerry
RT Winston
