I hate to ask what the NFC East would look like, where does Dallas fit?
Dont tell me, Houston/Dallas/Arizona/Denver, in the $#!T-Kickers Division???
And then there would be a snowball fight in hell...
T are looking to expand the NFL , to different countries. Your proposal would do just the opposite. besides......I like the Bucs. I'd hate to play them twice a year.
It's not a big thing but the Dolphins have long 3 trips a year to the northeast. Flying time, crap-weather (or at least an extreme from what home is). Few teams have this disadvantage baked into their division schedule (Perhaps Dallas).
No way. What about the classic rivalries, like Miami/NYJ, Dallas/Washington, Green Bay/Chicago, etc..? Are you just going to give those up? I don't understand the economics in that.
And then what happens when a southern division team has an away playoff game at a northern division teams field?
I think the home field would heavily favor the northern teams.

Like I mentioned in one of my earlier posts....those could be those "extra" games that could be scheduled.
Don't forget guys, the Colts used to be in the AFC East, and the division has done just fine without that rivalry.

Extra games would only happen once-a-year...and maybe not every year. These rivals play at least twice a year every season, and fans go crazy over it.

Bad troll is bad. If you're gonna troll can you be better at it?

Just have to rethink the way they do the schedule.
I think that the way they label the divisions is goofy, as the "east" or "west" have no real accuracy. I'd be in favor of renaming the divisions to something else. Anyone new to the sport has to look at the way the divisions are labeled now and go "huh?". As for actually realigning the divisions and moving the teams around, I'd be strongly against it. There are so many good rivalries that have been created and reinforced with decades of competition that changing that around would seriously mess with the heritage of the sport. Just my 2 cents.

I think this is the best, most balanced schedule they've ever used. I wouldn't change a thing.
14 of our 16 games are against either our division opponents or the same teams they will play during the season from one NFC and one AFC division. The other two games are matched up based on standings in the other two divisions in your conference.
Its one thing to realign the divisions but changing the way they build the schedule would be a mistake...at least as long as they stay at 16 regular season games.

Oh from your keyboard to God's ears. I'd be first in line for season tix! (Sorry Motherland)
Ross did have the M helmet taken off the logo...Hmmmm.
The have Dolphins on the west Coast. Sure enough could happen. My father was the biggest Brooklyn Dodgers fan as a Kid. There was no internet , no Video games back in the 40's. He lived for that Team. It was a part of their culture, the business aspect never dawned on them. Next thing you know , POOF , Ebbits field is a parking lot and then apartment buildings.
I'm sorry , but the City of Miami Does not care for NFL Football. Its a soccer Town filled with immigrants . Whenever I'm at the games and most of the fans come from the far North. Myself included. If not for the Duffy's express busses I wouldn't go.
I would hope and pray the Phins wouldn't leave the state , I'm all for a City change and Florida has quite a lot of open space . I was hoping the Jags would go out East so the Phins could possibly take over a spot in the central part of Florida. They could service both North and South Florida. An Orlando location would be Ideal. And with the recent connection between Mr Ross and Orlando Sea World........Hmmmmmmm..........

My father was the same way. Loved the Brooklyn Dodgers when he was a kid. Then the team moved. But, in my father's case, he stopped caring about the Dodgers after that. He became indifferent about MLB in general. I wonder how many current Dolphin fans would stop caring about the PHins were they to move to California, but I dont' want to find out.

Which is why Joe Robbie moved the team out of the City of Miami, to unincorporated Dade. I get your point--you want it moved further northward within the state. But there have been lots of investments to upgrade the stadium; why would they abandon it now.
I also get that you were referring to fans in Miami more than the actual city, but it should be noted that the City of Miami also does not support baseball. You spoke of the immigrant population--most are from Cuba, where baseball is more than a sport, it's a religion. Yet the Marlins coudln't draw fans in JRS unless they were on the verge of winning their world series. Then they build a brand new stadium, in the hopes of attracting people from the City of Miami, and after a few weeks the novelty wore off and you can now go bowling down the aisles in the new marlins stadium.
Speaking of cities supporting professional teams, it could be argued that LA doesnt' support an NFL team either. The Rams moved out, the Raiders were located there for a while, then moved out as well. Why would they suddenly embrace the Dolphins?
> I was hoping the Jags
> would go out East
Wow....you eastward from Jacksonville. You want the Jags to move to Europe? I'm okay with that
Even though they would be here in LA... I would like them to stay in Miami because there is something that an old-timer like me can never get used to is the Dolphins not being the Miami Dolphins.
But Hell! I would be at every game.
But it's not going to happen as a practical matter.
Here, Bob, the Centrist waxes on politics again.
The reason it's not going to happen is that it would be cool to build a stadium downtown near or in conjunction with the Staples Center.
But it ain't gonna happen for the same reason that the Irwindale stadium got shot down for the Raiders and Rams years ago.
The politicians that control the City Council are from South Central L.A.
They want the stadium to either be the Coliseum or be built nearby in South Central Los Angeles.
Hell the Rams and even the Raiders (as rowdy as their fans are) don't want to go down there because there's too much crime.
Hey when I left Oklahoma at age 15, I went to South Central Los Angeles, first for one summer only in 1964, and then permanently in June of 1965, and settled in comfortably........................
just in time for the Watts Riot of August of 1965.
However, then the gangs were only like "Westside Story" and they only fought with knives at worst but mainly fists.
They also only fought other members of rival gangs, and then only in an arranged "rumble." You might get roughed up a little if you were caught in another territory but that was about it.
Now, from baby to old man, you risk your life going down there for something like a game where you have to walk several city blocks before reaching the Coliseum.
Football owners are not stupid. They know why the Raiders and Rams left.
They are not going to risk a huge investment by putting either a stadium and/or a team down there.
But the Liberal politicians refuse to have it anywhere else.
Bottom Line, the Dolphins AIN'T coming to L.A., nor is any other pro football team. Hell, the Lakers play at the Staples Center, downtown. But they are grandfathered in from all the politics.
When you say new stadium with new money, then the politicians want to direct it to their district.
They are so stupid they can't see that when money comes into the LA City Coffers, no matter from where the money is generated, there is more money for their own district, ultimately. The only difference is that local stores and vendors don't profit as much from off-site sales.
But they can't see that. They'd rather not have the money at all.
For the same reasons, the Chargers coming back to L.A. where they originated in the old stadium that used to hold the Dodgers when they first came from Brooklyn, ain't coming back here either.
I actually think its an interesting idea because the rivalries we would gain could actually be be greater than those we lose. Just think about it for a minute. Many of the greatest rivalries in sports are aided by geography and proximity:
Yankees vs Red Sox
Auburn vs Alabama
Duke vs NC
While our history against the Jets, Pats, and Jills is significant, we're still the odd man out by being the only team not in the Northeast. If we put aside history for a moment, its pretty clear to see that the rivalries that would be produced by realigning to create a Southern/Florida division have the potential to be much better. I hate the Jets/Pats/Bills as much as anyone, but really they're so disconnected and far away. It would be really fun to go to rivalry games on the road within Florida in my opinion.
