I was satisfied with the kicker Sturgis from Florida, right?

But now ESPN is saying that the kicker from Florida STATE, picked later is perhaps the best kicker in the draft.

Pleas explain.

I didn't watch much Florida state, but rumor is Darren Izzi fell in love with sturgis, and was pushing hard to draft him.. I am no kicking expert, by the kid was pretty good, from my eyes.. I think he went 17-22 from over 40 the last 2 years, a stat I saw someone post on twitter.. It is hard for me accept passing Swopes to draft a kicker...

I like Sturgis FSU kickers have a habit of going wide right in critical moments. I was not high on Swope we took care of WR in F/A and have enough young guys (WRs) on the squad.

I wanted Swopes, however with concussions being on the plate, and knowing how the league views this now, it was probably better going with the kicker from Florida.

By the way, he's the best kicker in the SEC...which is by leaps and bounds the best division in college football...which makes him the best kicker in the Nation.

Remember the Raiders took Janikowski in the first round of the 2000 draft.
We just took a franchise kicker with our second pick of the 6th. Not bad in that respect.

Its funny that all the people who wanted Ryan Swope can't even spell his name correctly. You guys must have really done some extensive research on him that led you to the conclusion that the Fins should draft him.

I'm sure it wasn't based SOLELY on the fact that he went to A&M.

he went to a and m
he ran a sub 4.4
he had good stats in college
knows the offense and RT knows him

I'd say that's worth our 2d 5th rounder

No, I watched the Alabama game last year against Texas A&M. I saw his as* get hit simultanously by one of our linebackers and a corner just after a catch. It was one of the most violent hits I even seen put on a receiver in college football yet somehow Swope maintained posession of the football. One of the Alabama players was penalized for the hit to his head however he made the catch.

I am ready for the Phins to roll. I am not thinking about Swope. Some folks seem to think not getting this guy negates all the success we had in free agency and the draft. If Philbin doesn't think we need him screw 'm.

Pro Football Weekly rated Hopkins (FSU) #1 with Sturgis #2.

Swope: Good size and good speed. Concussions are a problem. But....

I would have taken a chance on Swope. Ireland drafted Jelani Jenkins (OL. Durability is an issue (missed four games for a variety of ailments). Was mentioned by the draft experts on NFLN that he will probably be a core special teams guy.

There were other players that Miami could have drafted in that spot, but didn't. Out of the two, I would have taken a chance on Swope.
