This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
This team has holes all over the place. So what does Ireland do? Trade away two prime picks for a Defensive End that had 5 sacks last year.
If its no obvious by now that Ireland is running this team into the ground, then you all need to pull off the Orange and Aqua glasses. This GM is just another Matt Millen. He should be fired for this.

DK, this dude is a freak of an athlete. Once he settles in you won't be disappointed. He's not just a DE, he's a "hybrid" OLB who can pass cover a TE. He's also played TE himself. Very athletic and versatile who can handle defending an up-temple offense. Perfect selection for the Dolphins against the Pats.
A thread started by dolphanking.....LOL...Negative thread?
you havent been here for ages yet you make a thread with a positive comment. Because anything the phins do thats negative its really a positive thread in your world.
"This young man, I think he's got the potential to be the player that I compare him to, which is Jason Taylor, who ironically played for the Miami Dolphins. I also think he looks like an Aldon Smith, and if he puts on 20 pounds on that 6-foot-7 frame, one day he might be as good as a DeMarcus Ware." -- Mike Mayock
2010: Swithced from TE to defense, playing in 13 games and starting one at defensive end (5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks) as a redshirt sophomore.
2011: as a 12-game starter at his hybrid defensive end/linebacker position (42 tackles, 13 for loss, team-high 7.5 sacks).
Jordan continued working at his drop end, outside linebacker spot in 2012, recording 44 total tackles, 10.5 going for a loss, including five sacks. The Duck forced three fumbles and intercepted one pass. He only played in 11 full games after missing parts or the entirety of three others with a shoulder injury. - Facts from NFL.com
He may have only had 5 sacks in 2012 but...
...he was lining up on the line of scrimmage as a stand-up defensive end, in the box as a linebacker or in the slot, covering inside receivers. Yes - in the slot on receivers, a spot usually reserved for defensive backs. - CBS.com
He will not be covering slot receivers in Miami. He will be a pass rush specialist.
Wasn't limiting, just responding, one is not defining a single person but just one or perhaps many that might take the position of gloom about the pick.
Most people were surprised.
Those (one or more) after reflection degrading the pick IMHO seem to me to be more worried about Brady landing on his bottom than the interest of the Dolphins
I for one am pleased to see for the first time in a very long time ... that the dolphin brass feel confident enough about their roster to actually get Bold enough to make moves to take the BPA and in this case beat the chart badly on trade value!
After review and past my surprise I gotta say; well done on reacting to the situation.
The Fins swam upstream quite well in opposition to the to the media expectations. That alone was great to watch the pundits with foot-in -mouth!
Just watch. DK won't be bashing Tanny this year. He'll be bashing Dion Jordan instead. That's pretty much par-for-the-course with DK. Just bash our #1 pick.

Hahaha. I was thinking the same thing.
Not that its going to change his mind because a troll's gotta troll, but Clay Matthews is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL and he had FOUR (4.0) sacks as a Senior and FIVE (5.0) for his entire college career.
Its not about college production. Its about SKILL SET.
I am going to give Ireland the benefit of the doubt, on this pick.. He went up to 3 and had his pick of any pass rusher in the draft, inside or out and he chose Jordan.. There has to be a reason he had him on the top of his board... If we landed the most elite pass rusher in this draft and perennial pro bowler, what is there to be upset about, it was a great move. Since it is to early to really know about Jordan, there isnt much to talk about... Other then he is a freak, who at 6 ft 7 4.5-4.6 40 at his size... I mean come on, who else in the NFL can do that... Nobody.. He is probably faster then every TE he could have to cover.. I read a report on him, that he could legitimately play every position on defense but NT, with his size and speed and raw athletic ability.. The flexibility, and speed will be hard to defend him, especially if you can move him all around and he still has the speed and moves to get to the QB... To say Ireland blew this call, ist just not a fair statement at this point iMO.. He stole the pick and then picked who he thought was the best pass rusher in the draft...Hard to knock him for that at this point.. Just my thoughts for whatever they are worth...

All things are subject to interpretation whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth.
Nietzsche
And you didn't add Crowder that we basically gave up only one of our TWO second rounds picks for him. And we got to pick from virtually the whole 2013 draft class (minus two).
Ireland played it just as he should have. Had everyone thinking that he was trying to go tackle or receiver. Relaxing those people who didn't see him as a threat for Defensive Tackle or End or OLB.
and then WHAM-O! He takes the best defensive player in the draft!
