Got to disagree on that one TCPF. Background checks clearly aren't going to solve the violent crime issues in this country on their own, but they are one step of many, in the right direction.

You have to pass a test to be licensed to drive, to fish, to get married in this country.

You can't vote if you are a convicted felon.

The idea that someone with a grudge or an imbalance of some sort can purchase a weapon capable of ending many lives is more than a little off base.

There are already steps in place for that. Anyone with a grudge or who is off balance will still have to go through the right avenues to purchase a weapon.

I've seen many people do very violent things. None have ever calmly went to a gun show , conversed calmly with a merchant , taken a class and sat through 90 minutes of instruction , and passed a back ground check. The only thing you are stopping is Good people who go through the right channels , who follow the Law.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

No, Treasure, everyone was not right. Yeah, to someone above, I said that it didn't make sense for someone not to plant the bombs ahead of time and be around for their explosions or to drop them then and have them go off in minutes but

all of those of us who said it was "Hate America" Islamists were right. Doesn't matter if they were Caucasian and Chechnyn (spelling) rebels. The fact is that as much as being a Black man I hate the KKK and the American Nazis, I knew this was not there modus operandi to kill Americans indiscriminately (maybe targeting the government or a racial group but not just indiscriminately).

I also mentioned the "American Taliban" to let you know it could be a Blond American but the point was that it was Islamist terrorism whether organized or not.

I don't remember anybody on my side of the argument saying that it had to be Ben Ladin's second in command himself.

Well sometimes I think winning is all that's important to some of you. whether its the dolphins or something we can all get different points of view and learn from , its just being right. You make educated guess on things just to shout, look I was right afterwards. Please stop. Again , no matter how you look at it , everyone guessed a part of these fruitcakes backgrounds.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

these were "home grown" in the sense that by all acounts they were not "sent" here from overseas to commit this act. They lived here for awhile and apparently became radicalized in some way (though everyone who knew them claim to be totally shocked that they could be radical).

But it seems like the motivation was Islam/anti-Americanism, although that is still speculation at this point.

So Treasure is right, the truth is somewhere between the two possiblities speculated on here: (1) overseas Islamist terrorists, and (2) homegrown right wing loonies.

But EVERYONE was just guessing and frankly the "I was right" gloating seems kind of inappropriate given the nature of what's occurred.

Nobody is in danger of getting this thread locked except "Truth." He throws around words such as lunatic.

His thing is that he used to be a moderator and thought he was imbued with a sense of superiority. So when he stopped being a moderator, he thought his word should be excepted like the word of God.

We all have our opinions. I don't think Truth's opinions on the Dolphins are the worst thing in the world but I do think that he simply adjusts his thinking to whatever the Dolphin management does and instead of trying to argue that it is ONE possible way of doing things, tries to argue that it is the ONLY POSSIBLE way of doing things.

And he gets SO upset with anyone who disagrees with him.

And he's got most of the posters on this board cowered.

He is absolutely infuriated that I don't accord him the same .... I'd say deference.

So he lashes out at me.

But if it weren't for him, I would not have had as many laughs as I have had.

If they are good people who follow the law then how is closing loopholes going to stop them?

Loopholes? A person who has a concealed to carry , has a good background , deserves to be able to go to a gunshow a buy an item and take it home, the same as any other American enjoying his hobby.

If a person wants to kill a bunch of people making innocent others conform to ineffective measures won't stop them. As a Law enforcement officer I do not mind 1 iota that others are walking around and driving with concealed weapons on their person. Its a fantastic hobby and most of the best people I know are into it.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

No, berk. Crowder and numerous other people agreed with me that Islam was behind it and not Timothy McVeigh.

Seems he was taken into custody "alive". If that holds up, perhaps there will be some answers.

We can get serious about imposing the death penalty. I notice this guy didn't do a "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in Mexico" bit.

I hear he is still alive. Don't know whether wounded or not though.

I think we've already got the answers, Truth. They were posting pro-Al Quaeda messages on their facebook or whatever you kids do pages.

knew they weren't the origins of the song but dropkick murphy's version after a B's win always sets me right...thoughts prayers to all those affected especially to to the deceased and their loved ones including the MIT officer who knowing or unknowingly gave his life in the line of duty and helped bring an end to this whole ordeal

No doubt, that cop gave his life to protect those students. God bless him and his family. But I can't shake the feeling that father of that 8 yr old boy must have. I have a 8 yr old boy. For what? Because of Two twisted ideals from these "Losers". Guy is alive and in critical condition. Lets save his life so we can get some closure for the families , some answers, and the watch his ass Rot away on death Row in a Fed Pen. They don't seem to last as long is a fed Pen . McVeigh was dead in just a matter of a few yrs as opposed to the decades in state run courts.

Whatever is his worst nightmare. Death or life imprisonment doesn't matter to me.

I think after conviction they should be given a psych exam and then the punishment should be given based on what would be their worst nightmare.
