Would be willing to bet....

With all the offseason FA activity we are going 1 of 2 directions

Trading # 12 to Oakland or Cleveland and possibly Bess, to Get Fisher or Johnson

Stand pat, or possibly dropping down, and taking Eifert

Moving up 9 spots is pretty pricey about 1000 points that is like our first and 2 second rounders plus

Hoping we don't do that but we have the picks if they feel Fisher or Johnson is a 10 year stud to protect Tannehill.......

6th costs us a second which is a better deal. Need to watch San Diego doesn't jump, but we have better ammunition

I could live with this to snag Johnson, and consider next years first to grab Eifert, but he may be gone at 13 to Tampa

Imagine

1st
Lane Johnson
Tyler Eifert

2nd
DJ Hayden or Dave Amerson

3rd

Marquise Goodwin
Monte ball Christine Michael or Jonathan Franklin

4th
JJ Wilcox

5th

Jordan Campbell
David bass

7th
Caleb Sturgis
Jeff Tuel

Here is my take........Jeff Long was a stud among studs. He was voted by his peers as the best at his position. Guy made the ProBowl every year since his Rookie year. Yet.......How many times Over and Over did you hear the same old argument on why did we draft him #1 overall? He was certainly worthy of the pick. But value wise he only lasted 5-6 yrs. Now people want us to move up in the draft and spend MORE then just a low first rounder , But a second and a conditional other? For a lineman that may or may not be a stud? Sorry. We are not the 49ers or Denver. A complete Team just missing a few pieces because we had an exciting Free Agent off season.

We need to keep our eyes on the prize. If someone you want is not available then if anything draft down and accumulate more picks. We need all the help we can get. Moving up for a Lineman would be Stupid. You move up and spend several picks, You should at least get 10 yrs out of the guy. Just my $0.02

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

just crazy that after all the high picks we've spent on OL with limited effect, people are advocating trading up to draft an OT.

If we give up #12 and one 2nd to move up and get a LT we would have to package the other 2nd rounder with next years #1 to get back into the middle of the first to get Eifert...you can forget about a CB, or any other player, in round #2.

What high picks and what limited effect?

Long went to 4 pro bowls and was the best LT in the league until injuries wore him down.

Pouncey might be the best center in the league.

Martin gave you 16 games at RT and LT as a rookie starter.

The reason we lost games the last 5-6 years isn't because we invested in the O-line, its because we NEVER invested in QB.

Now that we finally have invested in a QB it would be insane to neglect investing in the guys that will allow him to do his job.

Exactly , And they were good players. But we need to learn from our mistakes.Rnnie Brown, we gave up the bank for Ricky Williams. What did it get us? New Orleans went to the Dance on our picks. Then we took their other cast off RB. You move up for a QB. Sometimes you strike Oil, other times you get the dirty Sanchez. But at any other position, unless you are a complete Team coming off a Playoff season you create depth and the more picks the better your chances of landing a Playmaker. thumbs up

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

high picks: #1 overall, #15 overall, high second round pick on martin, 3d rounder on john jerry, 3d rounder on shawn murphy

limited effect: our oline still sucks to the degree that people want to spend #12 and a second rounder on another OT.

Murphy was a mid 4th round pick.

So out of the 4 guys in the past 6 years we've spent a 1st, 2nd, 3rd round pick on, only Jerry didn't really work out.

Even so...this is football Berk. Shit happens. The average player has a career of less than 4 years. You aren't going to hit on every pick and you are going to have to start looking for replacements for your good picks sooner rather than later.

Its the nature of the game. At the end of the day, you are what you are and you need what you need as an organization. What you drafted 5 years ago should have absolutely ZERO influence on your decision making.

Besides, 2 guys out of 4 who made the pro bowl or are at that level, and a 3rd who made a decent showing at both OT positions as a rookie, is a pretty good batting average.

It's crazy to MOVE UP to draft Lane Johnson UNLESS he can play right tackle.

We ALREADY HAVE our left tackle. Jonathan Martin, one of the few good picks Ireland has made.

Jonathan Martin CANNOT play RIGHT tackle. He's proven that. But he was an all-American at LEFT tackle.

For Johnson's bio, he had 11 starts at LEFT tackle.

As Martin himself proved, these positions are not always reversible.

Our two biggest holes are at OT and CB. You can bet that two of our top 3 picks will be at those positions.

Assume Johnson is off the board at #12 (if he's there it's a no-brainer). There's no other OT worth taking that high, no matter what Kiper says, and it's a deep draft at the position. So OT waits until Round 2.

So Ireland will look at two CB prospects, Rhodes and Trufant. I doubt Ireland pulls the trigger on either at #12. Maybe he'll look to trade back a few spots and grab Trufant.

Or maybe he'll grab BPA and get both his OT and CB in the second round.

Just remember that Ireland's definition of BPA at that pick probably doesn't include Eifert or Austin. It probably means Jonathan Cooper or a DE.

And I doubt he's trading up, unless he can make the deal with a 3rd. 2nd round picks are too valuable this year.

could drop back and take Eifert, Trufant, or Menelik Watson

or DJ hayden, Banks, Amerson, Poyer, Slay or Taylor at 42 or 54

What's his "definition" of BPA?

I think its Cooper or Eifert at #12 if we stay there.

Ireland will be looking for an impact guy. Both of those guys are in their own way.

Won't be Banks. Too slow.

Every week, Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan do a mock draft together on Friday afternoon on Sirius NFL radio. This week, they had Miami trading the #12 pick, our first second round pick, and Davone Bess to Oakland for the #3 pick.

If that got us Fisher I'd do it.

Yes, it was for Fisher. And then they had us taking Montee Ball in the second round.

I love that kid. Reminds me of Curtis Martin when he came out of Pitt.

But I don't think I'd go RB in the 2nd. This draft will have a good one (or two) on the board in the 4th and 5th and I want to see what Lamar Miller has in the tank.

A lot of smoke around whether we like Fisher or Johnson better

RB in third, Ball ,Franklin or Christine Michael. I say its Michael unless someone snags him. We could reach in second to guarantee him

RB is just as big a need as anything

I don't think there's any question Fisher is MILES better than Johnson.

Its not a matter of which we rate higher, its which we can possibly get. That's why there is more buzz around Johnson when it comes to us.

Fisher could go #1 overall. He's almost definitely going in the top 5.

Johnson could fall to 10 or 11.

The only thing I have read was from Armando Salguero, that we like Fisher and Joeckel much better than Johnson, and have questions about Johnson.

Keep in mind, we need 3 RBs. Sherman's goal for this offense is to run 80-90 plays per game. And if you look at what he did at A&M, it was basically a 50/50 run/pass split. So, you are talking about 40-45 rushes per game. We need 3 guys to carry that load.

Trade Thomas for Chris ivory & draft Christine Michael and along with Miller that's a smokin' backfield

I am sure Ivory would much rather play for Phins that the jet mess

True. With the injury history of Daniel Thomas, I think we need to add a bruiser/short yardage back that is a compliment to Miller. That's why I like Le'Veon Bell in the 3rd round if available. He can do goal line and short yardage but could be an every down back as well. Has good receiving ability, etc.
