Are we suppose to be impressed by Martins numbers and rating? I hope not.....

You know stats are so full of shit so many times...
I think soLong gave up those numbers against Freeney alone.

Not to mention that Incognito saved him countless times last year.

Total Jake BS IMO.

veddy interesting (though I don't see this happening)

John Clayton ?@ClaytonESPN
Updating from owners meetings, I think the Dolphins could offer a No. 2 pick to KC to land LT Branden Albert. They have 2 No. 2s

I'd do this, especially if its the Indy pick. He got franchise tagged but his number is only $9.8m.

We can probably get a long term deal done at a very reasonable number.

I don't know, I'd rather have Winston and keep the #2, and for way less money too. This is a good draft in the second round (except we can't pick 2d rounders for $ht!)

If I was confident one of the top 3 OT's would be there at #12 I'd probably agree with you.

Its a deep draft at OT but none of those other guys are sure bets (or as much as one can be in the draft)

Albert is a top drawer NFL LT.

If I could get him signed for a reasonable deal I'd be very interested.

I am sure he would want an extension along the lines of what Long just got if not more. I'd rather roll with Martin, draft someone, and sign winston.

You have more faith in Martin as a LT this year than I do.

he was a 1st round prospect at LT last year. I think we need to see what he can do with a training camp at the spot. At worst he will be adequate

Martin needs to get a lot stronger...His strength is his main weakness IMO.. Hopefully that is what he has been doing...

I agree completely.

he went to Stanford. He's smart enough to play LT for sure.

He's athletic enough, but he lacks power/strength in his game. Maybe he's able to improve that. Maybe he isn't.

i think he's the kind of prospect that will get better over the years and by the end of his first deal he'll be pretty good.

Just not confident he's making that big jump this year.

Omar Kelly tweeted last week that he was still negotiating an injury settlement with Miami.

I see Andrew Gardner was resigned by Houston as a RFA.

Strength should be easiest part to fix. All the guy has to have is desire to fix that.

There is no alternative to Jonathan Martin at left tackle.

He did not play right tackle well either in pre-season or before Long went down.

unless we trade up for a tackle or Lane Johnson falls to us.

I like the Oklahoman, of course, but does that really make sense for us? We got Jonathan Martin, whose natural position is LT.

We saw what problems he had at RT.

He was a rookie but certainly more solid at LT than RT.

Why RE-CREATE the same ole problem we had with Jake Long?

Martin should be better next year than last year.

He was a rookie for God's sake. Why bring in ANOTHER rookie that will have the same rough time at LT in the beginning.

If you want to bring in a rookie at OL, bring in a rookie RT.

And what you have to calm down and consider is that when the All- Star junior high schooler first breaks into high school, he is schooled by the Senior classmen.

But by the time he is a Senior himself, guess who he is playing against?

A) All the guys who were in Junior High school at the same time as he when he made All-Star and

cool smiley Kids who are even younger and are Sophomores and Juniors.

The same is true of the NFL.

In a few years, Jonathan Martin will be competing only with guys who were playing college ball at the same time he was at Stanford and rookies.

Chill dudes. Give it some time. The dude will abide.

Johnson played RT in 2011 so he has experience at both positions. If one gets hurt then the RT can step in for the LT. It's nice to have the versatility.

I am not as worried as some about Martin playing LT. I think he will be much improved.

I don't want an OT in the first round, esp not the 3d rated OT in the draft. come on man!

I'd take Joeckle or Fisher, since they are considered among the best players in the draft and apparently one of the better OTs to come out in awhile. Not so much with Johnson. He was a QB just a few years ago. We'd have a former QB playing OT and a former WR playing QB!

Fisher was a HS QB also..then TE...then OT. Its why he's at Central Michigan.

I've liked Fisher for months. Would have loved to get him at 12.

Johnson isn't that far behind him and he might be even more athletic.

Some think Johnson has the best upside of any OT in the draft so he's not a reach at 12.

Just because there are two elite LT's a head of him doesn't mean he's not close to that level and worthy of the 12th pick in the draft.

I think I'd rather have one of the 2 OGs than the #3 OL. Isn't Warmack supposed to be one of the greatest guards to come out ever, and the guy from NC some say is even better (I don't know anything first hand about either of them)

If we could draft a sure thing 10 year Pro Bowler at guard, then I could live with that. I want to see what Martin has at LT before I spend a high first rounder (another one) to replace him

Maybe. I just don't know if Warmack is a great fit for our scheme. Probably better suited for a power blocking scheme.

Jonathan Cooper is the OG in the first round who I think best fits what we want to do.

Then again, Warmack lost something like 30 lbs for the combine so maybe he is quicker.

I'd be happy with any of those guys quite frankly.

I think I'd prefer Johnson, Cooper, Warmack in that order.
