I think the Dolphins know that a healthy Long is still a very good player; maybe not an All-Pro, but still very good. Like many other players out there, health is the x factor.

A healthy Long...............thats the key.........He hasn't been healthy for a while.
so, would you rather have Jake Long back at 7mm per year? Or sign Winston at 5mm per year to play the right side and take our chances with Martin at LT?

I would take Long at 7 over Winston at 5. HOWEVER, I would rather get Long for 6; and structure a deal that lets us walk away after 2014 if he doesn't stay healthy.
Now if it was Long at 7 or Winston at 4, I might be inclined to go with Winston
I, can't for the life of me, imagine why anybody would want to work for that kind of money. 7 million a year doesn't go but so far and a guy's gotta eat.
I'd consider signing soLong for no more than 6.5mm for 2 years with 8mm gtd. Take or leave it. But soLong has a LOT to prove including his pharmacological viability.

He is on a flight back to Miami right now, according to his wife... STL wasnt able to close the deal in person... Lets see what Ireland can do once he arrives back in Miami....
