1. Now all we need is to draft the best receiver available in the first round and the real deal will flourish into a HALL OF FAMER...

2. Get a couple of OLinemen in the 2nd and 3rd to solidify the OL and then go corner and rushing LB for the rest of the draft.

3. ADD SOME HONEY to wallace's gloves so the ball will stick and we all of a sudden have a great offense.

We all know every reporter and pundit is saying this, but it isnt done because legally you cant have a done deal until tomorrow.. Teams and agents were not allowed to present terms legally... They were allowed to gauge interest... Interest seems high on both sides and it seems likely, but it is not a done deal until the ink is dry.

Gibson is a fall back option IMO. Way back!

Only of he's starting.

I view him as an upgrade over Bess in that he CAN play outside effectively if need be.

my fear/concern is the phins are getting used again. Someone in Wallace's camp is letting it be known Mia is the front runner. Everyone knows we will overpay to get him. Wallace is going to shop the offer around and sign with whomever beats it. That's why all of this "done deal" stuff bothers me. Have we learned nothing? If we sign Wallace it will only be because no one wanted to overpay to the degree we did. Not because Wallace really wants to be here.

The more buzz about Wallace being a done deal makes me think it's all a smokescreen. Either he is using Miami to drive up his market, or Miami is leaking it to divert attention from what the real plan is, or to lower Jennings' demands. Here's a question, are they better with $12M spent on Wallace, or $14-15M spent on Jennings and Cook?

I think jennings and cook, but I don't think we could sign both for 14-15mm

Everything I have read, seen or heard on this subject comes from some media dude who thinks he has it all figured out. I have never heard anyone inside the Dolphins organization say that Wallace is even the guy they want... because it would be stupid to do so. They may prefer Jennings. Or they may look to address WR in the draft.

However, the Miami media (many of whom are not Dolphins fans) are hyping this up; and if Wallace ends up elsewhere they will type gleefully that the Dolphins have failed again.

I do. I think $8-9M for Jennings, and $6-7M for Cook. We'll see.

There's something about all this talk about Wallace that just doesn't seem right. I have serious doubts. Just like all the Matt Flynn talk lsst year.

From a media perspective, this is no-win situation for the Dolphins.

If they don't sign Wallace, the story will be that they failed to land the guy they want...again. Even though, it is only an assumption that they want Wallace.

If they do sign Wallace, the story will be that they were the only team desperate enough to pay Wallace that kind of money.

Think about the Vikings, who had been rumored to be strong competition for Wallace. In the past couple of days, they've released Michael Jenkins and traded Percy Harvin. Those were their 2 leading WRs in 2012. I have to believe they are going be going hard after one of Wallace or Jennings. They have to be. Maybe it's Jennings, because he's from the northern midwest, and the whole division rival thing. But, they have to be players for Wallace, too. I would think, anyway.

I don't think its a smokescreen.

I think we have agreed on a number that they were looking for and there is genuine interest on both sides.

Whether that holds up until tomorrow at 4pm is an entirely different thing.

A late bid from someone lying in the weeds or a late entry like Minnesota who didn't have a need yesterday could change the result.

As for the buzz...its the internet. It all comes from one Miami writer who said a source in the Phins organization told him done deal...then he sort of back tracked...a little.

The reason this seems like its getting more buzz than it should is because it is. For 3 days he's the only big FA linked to a team.

If I were deciding between these two options, it would be rather easy.

Ponder at QB + Minnesota weather + Minnesota tax rates

or

Tannehill at QB + Miami weather + no income tax in Florida

You are right. But, all this talk about it being in the bag still doesn't smell quite right.

It looks to me as if it states MIAMI believes it will take 13 mil to sign Wallace.

Dolfanmark,

Jennings is 30 and signing him to a long term deal when he is past his prime is ludicrous!
isn't he injury prone himself? Didn't he miss most of 2012?And...3 games in 2011...sounds like an injury prone player to me..

He hasn't eclipsed the 1000 yard barrier since 2010....
I do not see a compelling reason that he will suddenly get better..

Sounds like a washed up player to me..

You seem to be in love with ex green bay players....not sure why....

Signing Jennings to a contract more that 3 mill a year would be a huuuuuge mistake.

Wallace is the only logical play ....

I'd rather sign amendola for 3 mill than Jennings for 7 or 8 ...

Jennings knows the offense. Jennings is a high character guy. Jennings can play all 3 WR positions. On Sirius yesterday, 49ers CB Carlos Rogers talked about how Greg Jennings is a better all around WR than Wallace.

Jennings and Wallace don't play the same position as Amendola. Amendola can only play the slot position. Same as Bess. Signing Amendola would mean having to trade or cut Bess. And that would be silly, since Bess is better than Amendola. Please. Jennings has averaged 15.4 yards per catch for his career. Amendola has averaged 8.8. Amendola does nothing to address our needs. He's not a deep threat. He's not a redzone threat. Those are the two things we need.

Toko's a gambler. To him that phrase means "The deal is as good as done."

I wish the author would change the name of this thread. Every time I come on the site I think we signed him....just add an "almost" or something.
