KC just cut him. Maybe he solves our RT problem and we play MArtin at L? Then we can draft a guard (it's a good year for them) and be set with OL.

he still any good?

Winston was the 9th ranked RT by PFF. He earned positive grades for both run blocking and pass blocking. He had a +7.2 as a run blocker, which was 13th among all tackles. And he had a +8.1 as a pass blocker, allowing 3 sacks, 6 hits, and 25 pressures. Compare that to Martin, who had a -6.0 as a run blocker, a -17.5 pass blocker, and allowed 6 sacks, 4 hits, and 47 pressures.

The real question is whether or not the team thinks Martin can be a LT. Despite the popular perception, Martin actually gave up more QB disruptions per game as a LT than he did as a RT, and he was bad at RT, so that is saying something.

if we can get wiston at a good price, I think it's worth the risk. Martin is a better LT than RT, so we may as well upgrade RT and see how it goes with him at LT

His run blocking was better at LT, but his pass blocking was worse. And that was in spite of playing several teams with a very weak pass rush.

but he was a 4 yr starter at LT in college and a 1st round prospect at that position. He spent his entire pro career learning rt and then switched to lt with no prior practice. I think the jury is way out on whether he can be good lt

Have you ever seen a LT get run over like he did by Aldon Smith? Martin is smart and athletic, with the footwork to be a LT. But, he has a long way to go in terms of gaining strength, and that was the knock on him coming out of college.

The fact is, he allowed more QB disruptions per game at LT than he did at RT. The perception that he played better at LT than he did at RT isn't accurate. And the perception that there wasn't much of a dropoff from Long to him also isn't accurate. Martin allowed as many QB disruptions in 5 games at LT (21) as Long allowed in 11 games.

Marc Colombo lowered the bar for Dolphins' fans too low. Was Martin better than Colombo? Yes, by a mile. Was Martin good? No, he was one of the worst OTs in the league.

Winston is part of the solution sign him. We would be saying goodby to Gardner so be it.

don't see why we can't bring gardner back regardless. he is cheap, can play multiple positions, and at times looked like he can be a solid starter. We need backups on the OL

You are right w/ Long gone. That still leaves me assuming Martin is the answer at LT. A big assumption.

Gardner? WTH? He is in Houston. Are you talking about Nate Garner? He had his shot and didn't do much with it. He's had three years and gotten two or three chances to start.
