I'm not defending the deal. Other than to say I don't really have a problem with it. Its right at my max for him so I'm uncomfortable with it either way, but not so much I let a player I like walk.

My issue isn't, and hasn't been with anyone thinking $6mill is too much money for Hartline. You can argue the point either way and make a good case so please don't move the goal posts here.

My issue is with people who say its Ireland's fault for not signing him to their idea of a good contract.

If your stance is..."let him hit the FA market if he wants more than $4mill a year." Then so be it. Its a gutsy move. 1000 yard WR's don't grow on trees and we've only had a handfull of them in our team history.

Still waiting to hear how you intend to upgrade the passing game after you let him walk.

to upgrade, I'd try to sign wallace or jennings. I'd rather sign danny amendola at 4mm than hartline at 6mm. let hartline hit the market rather than pay him 6mm, resign him at 4.5 mm which is what I think you could get him for.
If this story is true, then Ireland panicked. I don't see any other explanation

This is pointless to debate whether or not Hartline is worth $6M per year. We don't know what kind of contract he will ultimately sign. Everyone reported Matt Flynn's deal last year was 3 years for $27M. And it turns out it was only $10M guaranteed, and all of that was due in the first 2 years of the deal. So, it was really a 2 year, $10M deal. That's a big difference from what was reported.

But, keep in mind. Dwayne Bowe just signed for a little over $10M per season. Last year, Laurent Robinson parlayed 4 years of doing nothing and one short stretch of good games with Dallas into a deal worth more than $6M per year. Pierre Garcon got a deal worth over $8M per season.

Bowe got 11.2 mil per year (5 yr/56 m). 15 mil signing bonus and 26 mil guaranteed. His cap hit should only be 4 mil this year.

Wallace should get somewhere in the same ballpark....slightly more.

First 4 years in the league.....

Wallace 4042/32 td
Bowe 3768/31 td

The other explanation is that he values Hartline MORE than the other options out there to replace him...that he disagrees with you.

Danny Amendola, 8.8 yards per catch for his career, and only plays the slot WR position. Has missed 20 of his last 32 games with injuries.

Brian Hartline, 15 yards per catch for his career, and can play all 3 WR positions. Danny Amendola is not comparable to Hartline in any way.

I haven't heard anything official, but the way I am reading your post is that Hartline has signed for $6M?

I agree with most of the posters here that he should have been in the $4-5M range, but as Truth said, evidently that's the market.

not official yet, this is all based on a single story from 3 days ago, he hasn't signed yet and no one know the terms

Omar Kelly said he had no idea where the $6M per year number came from. But, look at what guys like Robert Meachem, Laurent Robinson, and Josh Morgan got.

oamar kelly is an idiot. if there is dolphins news, he'd be the last to know. if he has no idea where info is coming from, that sounds about right.

Lol, yeah that sounds about right when it comes to Omar and his level of reporting... By the way Hartline doesn't like Omar at all and has called him out before on twitter recently for being lost... So when it comes to Hartline, Omar knows nothing inside that is for sure.. He is persona non grata with the Hartline camp..

He has called him out more then once.. One of them Omar stated that Chad Johnson could have done what Hartline did this year had the Dolphins not cut him.. The exchange ended with Hartline telling Omar to come meet him in the lockeroom if he wants to deal with it...He also has pointed out to Omar it is better to remain silent and thought a fool then to open his mouth and remove all doubt... He has also told him " this is another example that u don't know what u are talking about"..(paraphrased)... Either way Omar has zero inside info about Hartline... So he has no story but is trying to act like he still does, because Hartline is the story of the week... Makes Omar look like even more of a BS artist who is full of it..

I don't understand how Omar still has a job... Other then the Sentinel is so broke, that they can't afford to hire anybody worth a sh*t.. Even Hyde is completely lost these days and don't even get me started on Bernadino.. It is disgraceful and the craziest part they think these guys insight is something people would be willing to pay for online... Lol... The sentinel is obviously garbage from top to bottom at this point in time... Sad to say from a local who grew up on that paper and building in the sky rise...

Actually, Omar has been extolling the virtues of Hartline for a couple of years now. He's often commented on how Dolphins fans don't appreciate what Hartline brings to the team. But, he did point out that part of what Hartline accomplished this year was due to an increased opportunity, due to the lack of a viable option on the other side. Hartline took exception to that. But, Omar quickly responded to him that he meant no disrespect and explained the comment. And Hartline made a joke back to him. It didn't seem like there was any real animosity at all.

Hartline thinks Omar is an idiot, so does the majority of people that have met or read his BS.. If you think Hartline would give Omar any inside info or insight you are out in left field... Hartline thanked everyone for having his back and bashing Omar, hardly a joke.. The only LOL, hartline said was why don't u come meet me in the locker room, like 3 O'clock High school fight... Omar has sinced tried to kiss his ass, but Hartline still makes comments to Omar, this is another example of you not knowing what u are talking about...
No other players have publicly called out a reporter but Hartline ad Burnett against the same guy... Omar is a fool, and the team and its players view him no different then most of us... A blowhard with a lack of self awareness and delusions of his intellect and insight regarding football and the Dolphins..
