Yeah, from that, he's just saying that he does not intend to neglect the defense. But I bet his TOP priority in the draft (or free agency although I don't think so) will be WR. Maybe had the TE'O affair (let's give it a name) not happened, he might have taken his new Zach Thomas (Manny Te'o) with the no. 12 if he was there, but not now.

Traditionally, WRs and pass rushers need time to develop. In college, both can get by with athleticism. In the NFL, they need to learn technique. Based on that, make the two big splashes in free agency at WR and pass rusher. How about Michael Johnson (Coyle knows him well from Cincy) and one of Bowe/Wallace/Jennings in free agency? Then among those 5 early picks, think a good pulling guard, a TE, at least one corner, and a WR to groom as Bess' replacement.

not Bowe, he is a drop-a-saurus
Wallace has flash but he is inconsistent if you watch a lot of tape on him he is not worth the price tag.
Jennings...maybe.

There's no way Manti Te'o would even come close to Zach Thomas.... eye rolling smiley

Was that your opinion even before the scandal, Chris?

Bowe had major issues with drops early in his career, but has been much better the last 3 seasons. He is no Greg Camarillo when it comes to his hands, but he's not Brandon Marshall, either.

I don't know about this year but over the 3 years prior...(09,10,&11)

DROPS....

Brandon Marshall 35
Wes Welker 32
Roddy White 30
Dwayne Bowe 26

Bowes also missed 5-6 games over that span.

Much better than what? How many did he drop this year?

According to PFF his drop rate percentage (more important number) was 9th worst from 09 thru 2011 when he dropped 11.56% of his targets. Brandon Marshall was 10th with 11.55%

Over 2008-2009, Bowe had 27 drops in 27 games. From 2010 thru 2012, he has 24 drops in 45 games. That's a dramatic improvement. His 6 drops in 2012 had him 38th in the NFL in drops. Bess had 8, on fewer targets.

Dolphins fans should not be that picky. Dwayne Bowe would be a huge upgrade to our WR corps. Mike Wallace is going to have a lot of suitors, and his price could get crazy for a guy who is basically a deep threat, and not much else. And Greg Jennings has missed what, 11 of his last 22 games with injuries? Bowe is from Miami, and may even sign for less money to play at home. Like it or not, the Fins need to get the best value for their money that they can. If Mike Wallace gets $12M a year from some other team, Bowe could represent a much better value.
