QB search and the effects on the 2013 draft

These teams are in desperate need of a QB...

Arizona, Kansas City

These teams could stick with their starter or go completely in a different QB.

Philly: Vick or Foles
Buffalo: Could stick with Kirkpatrick
NYJ: Rex Ryan is still there and may sticks with Sanchez
Oakland: Could go with Palmer again. Had a good year numbers wise.
Jax: Gabbert or Henne

I think Jax, Buf and Jets could go with a second round QB or later.

That being said I don't see AZ or KC reaching for a QB this year at picks 1 or 7. I doubt anyone wants to trade up to 1 since no QB's are worth it. You reach for a Qb and he busts you set your franchise back years. Reid is in KC and he may see Donovan McNabb in Geno Smith. Smith was way more productive in college than DM.

The available QB's this year are....

Joe Flacco: Technically but not really. No way Ozzie lets him walk in this market.

Matt Moore: We saw him run the WCO so may be an option for KC. They have to dump Cassel and Quinn. Moore will not want to go to a team unless they commit to him as he would be in the same sitation if they draft Smith. Maybe the Jets remember the defeat Moore gave them.

Jason Campbell: you would have to be desperate to sign him as a starter.

Tyler Thigpen: see above.

Rex Grossman: see above.

Forgot about those two...Will anyone pay remainder of 3 yr 19.5 mil a year for a guy who couldn't win starting job? 10 mil guaranteed, 6 mil signing bonus. His cap hit this year was 4 mil this year. He is due 6.25 mil in 2013 and is then a FA.

Alex Smith is due 8.5 mil in 2013. He may be worth it but will also cost a draft pick.

Flynn would fit in Reids WCo in KC.

Smith to AZ?

Matt Moore to the Jets? Buffalo?

I think the Jets and Buffalo are in the first category of desperate for QB.

If there is a guy they like there in the first round...like a matt barkley...I bet they grab him.

That's the funniest thing I've heard today.

As if the Jets don't have ENOUGH DRAMA.

Let's see, they'll have Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow and Matt Barkley (aka Sanchez's successor at USC).

The young QB to watch out for is Teddy Bridgewater (Louisville), but he does not come out until 2014 at the earliest.

Chyren, you do realize that Tebow is a goner in NY and the Jets have all but said they're in the market to replace Sanchez right?

Hence the urgent need for a QB. thumbs up

Especially one whom they can develop.

Sanchez might get cut after June 1st. That would allow them to defer half of his 8.5 million roster bonus to the 2014 cap. Even so he probably makes it through the season.

Lots of chatter amongst the local fans and media about bringing in a guy like Matt Moore. If they did that they wouldn't need to draft a guy but still might if the right guy was there.

Tebow is gone. They already told him they'll release him so he can go where he wants.

My prediction is Jacksonville lands Tebow, they wanted to trade for him right before the Jets snagged him and the owner has a boner for the hometown kid.

Sanchez is now out of a job in N.Y with the arrival of Vick and Blaine Gabbert via trade.

Sanchez gets traded to Jacksonville where he will back up Tebow and will lose his fkn mind when Tebow leads Jacksonville to a wildcard spot with fluky throws and how the fck did he do that plays.

Rex Ryan also loses his mind as the Jags beating the Jets on the last game of the season eliminates the Jets and clinches the Jags.

Don't worry about our Phins though they clinched the division after Brady and Bellicheat retired.

ahhhhhhhhhh how nice would this be if that happened LOL.

In all seriousness Tebow will be in Jacksonville next year, that part I ain't kidding about.

Can't see it.

Vick is going to want starter money, especially if they cut Sanchez. Even if its an incentive laden contract it's going to end up in the neighborhood of $10 mill and gabberts making $3 mill. Add that to the 17 mill cap hit you take for dumping Sanchez, which you have to do to bring in Vick and Gabbert a d you have $30 million tied up in qb's next year.

That's just not feesible.

Jets will lukely sign a cheap vet like Matt Moore or draft an inexpensive guy and live with Sanchez for one more year.

The more drafted qbs the more chances we have of hitting on a player.

I hope a lot of qbs get drafted.

We need Receivers, OL Passrusher, DBs..

I posted the link that stated Tebow is going to Jax but any GM worth his salt will not even entertain signing Tebow. I would imagine most teams would not touch him with a ten foot pole. Next stop...Canada.

Jax already fired their GM.

I think Canada would be great for him.

He's get to work on his craft, maybe he gets better.

Maybe he converts to TE or LB full time.

Man has barkleys stock fallen or what.

He was supposed to be the first player taken this year..And we now know that has changed.

Remember the talk before last year's draft? The top QB prospects after Luck were supposed to be Barkley and Landry Jones. It was supposed to be the best QB crop (between those 3 guys) since Eli, Rivers, and Big Ben. Where are either of those guys now? Meanwhile, RG3, Russell Wilson, and Tannehill...and perhaps this IS the best QB crop since Eli, Rivers, and Big Ben.

I think Barkely's stock will rebound once people look at the tape and he gets healthy enough for the combine and his work out.

He still has good mechanics, he still has a good arm. He's still a smart, accurate QB. He's still a 4 year starter, unlike Sanchez and Leinhart. And once people see how bad his O-line played this year, he won't get the blame for their record.

I think he's a better fit for a west coast team but he's the only QB in this draft who wouldn't surprise me if he went in the top 10.
