Rumor has it he won't be back

So we need to sign a top FA and maybe draft or sign another

Cook, Finley, Keller, Pitta RFA

Draft

Eifert, Ertz, Fauria? Michael Williams?

Hate to see him go, he gave the team a lot. I hope Jennings and Finley want to come to MIA. Jenningas as a f/a and maybe Finley in a trade. Clay to GB and a 6 rnd pick. That gives us 2 threats for Tanny.

If he's healthy and available I think I'd rather have Keller than Finley. More explosive and less expensive.

Then draft another. Its a good draft for TE's.

Where are the rumors coming from??

I think Jared Cook would be a good addition. Fastest TE at combine with a 4.49 40.

760 yards and 520 yards in last two years. Not good QB play. he's 25 years old.

Notre Dame has good to average TE's but no great ones since Mark Bavaro. Will Eifert be any different?

I haven't seen any rumor he won't be back. All I've heard is that he likely will be one of our earliest re-sigings. Which I am fine with, as long as it's to come back as the #2 TE and we get a real stud TE this year thru the draft or otherwise.

Do we have to wait for the FA signing period? I believe we can sign our own FA's before that can't we?

I think he'll stay, too, at a very reasonable price for a #2 TE. In an offense that struggles to score passing TDs, he has had:
2008: 7
2009: 2
2010: 4
2011: 5
2012: 5

In only one of those seasons did our QBs throw 20 TDs (2011 with Henne + Moore), so he's often about 1/3 or more of our receiving TDs for the season.

That's more an indictment of our passing game than praise of his game, but TD production can't be ignored.
