Really like the looks of this dude (Lamarvelous Miller) . The kid reeks of top-shelf NFL smooth moves, vision, burst, speed, great feet, finishing power, pad level, and just overall "game."
In addition, add #50 Mr. OV to your watch list. This dude has the base athletic chops to be a Wake-style disrupter. I mean... Did you see him almost chase down Spiller from the backside today? Total bitch in the making IMO.
Anyway, Mr. Berk, ya gotta give Ireland some credit where its due. Because I know you're so "even-handed and balanced" as an attorney, right?
BNF, I agree Vernon chasing down Spiller was beyound an impressive sight... I like Miller so far from what I have seen but I feel better with both Bush and Miller on the roster next year then a Miller/Thomas combination alone... Bush did his job around here and did it well, not rewarding Bush with another contract sends the wrong message to the team IMO.. Bush is a leader, the heart and soul of this team IMO, cutting him creates a void in the identity of the team and who knows how that void will be filled..

Players come and go. Its a business. They know that.
You said virtually the same thing when we let Yeremiah Bell walk (and others).
The team managed to move on from that and develop nicely.
If Bell was here he'd have been blocking Reshard Jones development.
If Bush is here next year he will be blocking Lamar Miller's development.
I'm not paying him $5 mill a year to do that if I'm the GM.

I definitely give Ireland props for the Miller pick. I loved it from the minute it was made. I was actually not thrilled with the Vernon pick but he looks like he could be a good one

Yeah I thought you spelled it correctly all along!
I really like this last draft class, Tannehill, Martin, Miller & Vernon all look like long term contributors, hopefully Ireland nails this next draft as well.
Also, if Bush is willing to sign something in the 2 yr/10mil range, i'd go for that, but this will probably be Bush's last big contract, not sure what he'll be willing to concede for the "hometown" discount. Long I think is a goner, he just wont be worth the money he'll command.
I can't see how anyone would not be totally IN THE MAKET to resign Reggie.
All the man has done for this team is be a consummate pro, work hard, lead by a great example, set an excellent benchmark for the young players, represent the franchise with class and style, produce TD's, big plays and yards. I mean...
OK. So he put the ball on the ground a few times. And maybe he needs to meet the FO halfway in regard to his new deal. But so far it doesn't seem we're serious about keeping him?
Either way -- there are a number of important contracts we need to get done this offseason -- another test in Ireland's development. He handled the Soliai situation well and delivered a positive outcome. He needs to have a highly productive contract negotiation period BFORE free agency and the draft.
My opinion. Of course.

Has anyone noticed that Bush has not fumbled since the benching? Anyone still questioning the move?
I would like to see Bush back. Why? Because he is one of the very few play makers we have on offense. I know Miller hasn't received as many carries as Bush but I have not seen the big play ability from Miller yet. He looks like a definite keeper but I'm all for resigning Bush at 5-6 mil a year....Now that the coaches pulled their heads out of their asses and started using him in the passing game....2 td catches and 1 rushing.

That's just too much money for a back up RB.
Yes he's our only playmaker. But If the reports I read last night are accurate that the front office views Miller as a top back and that you can expect him and Bush to flip flop roles next year if Bush is still here, then you can't pay him more than 2-3 mill to get 10 touches a game.
Obviously a deal with Reggie needs to be $ friendly ("workable" on all sides. But there's no reason Reggie and Lamarvelous Miller cannot be on the field at the same time -- at least significantly more than in Miller's developmental (rookie) year.
If Lamarvelous is ready to handle the load full time then Reggie can drive defenses nuts in the slot, in motion, reverses, quick screens, et cetera wherever. Point is, Reggie Bush IS a playmaker. And as evidenced by this past game, the dude knows how to get the rock into the end zone.
I really believe Reggie is a top priority to keep. Along with Hartline, Smith, Chris Clemons and Fasano. After that, Starks is a very significant player -- though we have to wonder what's been going down on the "personal front?" Tony McDaniel is a very solid player for us but may be to much of a luxury to keep around -- especially with the depth of young rising talent on the roster (solid job done in this case by Ireland).
But I'm like 95% sure we will make every effort to get Bush resigned, then focus on the core young players like Smith and Clemons. I get the feeling Fasano is happy in Miami and is truly appreciated by the staff -- so he's almost a "lock" IMO.

Has anyone compared his rushing yardage, or even average per carry, before the fumble and after the fumble?????

Miller has shown he can be the guy next year and if Bush signs a team-friendly contract, then he is welcomed back; if not, see ya.
Too much is being made of Bush (maybe) reaching 1,000 yards. Why? Because 1,000 yards is not that big a deal anymore. Back in the day(s) of 12- or 14-game seasons, yeah, it was quite an accomplishment. Today, with 16 games, it doesn't mean that much. what DOES mean something is ypc. A RB must get at least 5.0 ypc. That, to me, is the measuring stick as to how well a RB played.
A team doesn't pay a player above what they should because he is the "heart and soul." They pay him for what he does on the field, his age, and his salary demands. Bush asks for too much - bye, bye.
Thomas may be back, but I truly believe Miami will be looking for another big back in the middle rounds of the draft.
Truth, YB wasn't blocking Reshad Jones, I would say Chris Clemons was, once YB was gone Reshad did take over his old role, but his play and Clemons is what kept him out of games.. Sorry if I think a Reshad Jones, YB safety combination would have been stronger then Clemons and Jones.. As far as Bush stopping Miller, not sure I get that, miller had a tough time just getting on the active roster.. Without injuries to Thomas I am not sure Miller would have gotten more then ten carries all year.. The coaches seemed more likely to give it to Thigpen or Javorskie then Miller most of this year...For whatever reason the coaching staff didn't want Miller in the game, and that had nothing to do with Bush IMO.. I like Miller but I am not sure he is ready to take over the role that Bush has on the team..

Bell Played SS...so does Jones.
Jones is playing at a PB level at SS.
Even if he played out of position at FS with Bell...Bell was keeping him from developing at his best position.
Of course he was blocking Jones development at his best position. Its why the Fins cut Bell.
As for Miller, they didn't trust him in pass protection. That's not an uncommon thing for a rookie RB...especially one who fell to the 4th round.
As for his role next year, I was just passing along what was reported last night. One writer said the fins see Miller as a starter and will be using Bush as a backup if he returns.
Miller fell to the 4th rd because he failed physicals related to his shoulder injury... He also doesn't come across as the sharpest tack in the bunch, so play book and blitz pick ups I am sure are apart of the slow start..
Reshad played both positions FS and SS in college and coincidentally enough fell to the 5th rd I believe due to a broken leg his senior season at Georgia.. Before that he was a beast in college...

It's funny how everyone on here praises the Packers and Patriots as great run teams, but no-one ever wants to follow their buisness model. A team like the Pack doesn't have to break the bank to keep Greg Jennings because they drafted some cheaper versions that have developed in Jones and Cobb. Drafting Miller is the first time in a long time Miami has stocked the shelf at a position before it was needed. If Bush wants to stay in Miami for less then he can get elsewhere, then great, if not......sayanora, say hello to my litta friend! (in my best Tony Montana voice)
Praises the packers and patriots for their run game...what the hell are you talking about Champ... We praise their QBs not their run game... Cheers, I just found that comment a little different...

Also Truth if you watch Reshad Jones still plays both spots FS and SS or what it appears to be both spots... Coyle just describes his use as both spots are safeties and seems to interchange them more then a traditional SS and FS...

I guess that wasn't worded just right, I meant people praise them for how they are run, not their running games........champ
