The good part is we beat the Pats to the punch in the claim.

The bad part is that he was the one who fumbled in the Cincy game where we recovered.

Another undrafted player!? Is this Ross' idea of improving the team? Is this another baling wire repair?

Can't say much about this fellow. At least he is 3 inches taller in average than the receiver core crap that we have now that Ryan throws to.

What is his speed?

If he is basically in the same speed class as the rest of them, why bother?

No Colonel, this is what Ireland calls looking for acorns. Its not a promised upgrade.

Its a young guy who got cut, who may or may not be an upgrade over what we have.

A question that cannot be answered without claiming him.

There are no in season fixes for problems. But once in a while a team has to let go of a young player with upside for roster reasons.

All this is is our front office doing its due diligence and checking to see if he is an upgrade.

4.45 to 4.55 40 yard dash.

Gadsden was slow as molasses, but he made up for it with his size, hands, and leaping ability. Just saying...you don't have to be fast to be a successful WR in the NFL.

I know we need a deep threat, but maybe this guy will push some of the others.

Marlon Moore's time is about done IMO. Can't hurt to get better depth and someone who could potentially be a #3.

The guy is pretty fast for his size. Maybe faster than Hartline who runs in the same range.

I agree eesti.

I think Moore will be gone next year. I think Matthews has flashed much more ability an he will get the 5th WR spot after we sign a veteran and draft a rookie this offseason.

Who were the other receivers on the team at the time?

Not taking anything away from Gadsden, as I liked his style. He was also a big receiver who would fight for the ball.

Mentally it's not too hard to be a receiver. Memorize the playbook, listen to the audibles, run the routes, get separation, catch the ball, hold to the ball, RUN.

But then again, maybe that's why there are so few good ones.

If I remember, we had OJ McDuffie, who was not that fast but had great hands and ran great routes. Other than that, a bunch of no-name and washed up receivers that came and went.

Examining into a player's skill set should start with his understanding, his awareness on the field, his football intellect. After working with Gaffney for weeks and then releasing him, I have to wonder if the Sherman play book is too complicated for our "players" to comprehend quickly, or that it's a sign that our players are not smart enough (football intellect and awareness) to execute the plays as intended when called. Hmmm.

This guy did make some catches against us, so I guess it's okay for us to check him out to see if he's more talented than what we currently have on the depth chart.

It's also possible Gaffney is just getting to that age (He just turned 32) where he no longer has the skills.

He was out there for a long time before we signed him and was released from another team for a reason as well. I had hoped he could revert to his old form but it just didn't happen.

I doubt it was mental with him as he played in the WCO before (different WCO) and he also played well in NE.

Gaffney was released because he was hurt and his injury was holding him back.

But I agree colonel, ideally you have enough info to make an educated guess on players you pick up.

The reality is though that you don't truly know what's under the hood until you bring them in.

Chances ar he won't be here long but you never know.

From what I read, he has already learned the playbook and is ready to get out on the field.

He was on he field in last weeks game. Says offense is similar to one he was in before.
