I'm finally on board. Nothing left now but the best draft position available.

Thanks to calling for 4 long bombs behind 20-13 with the ball at about midfield with 4 plus minutes left.

You play that drive like it's less than 2 minutes left in the game and you need a field goal to tie, only you need a touchdown but the point is that you plan on making slow and steady progress, keep making first downs, score the touchdown and leave as little time as possible for the opponent to come back and score again to win.

You don't throw long bombs because

A) the longer the pass, the longer the odds it will be a completion and

b) Even if you do score a quick touchdown, you're only at a tie and the other side still has time to win.

Your only realistic chance is a tie and a win in overtime.

But if you couldn't get to be a head coach even at Allegenhy college or Northeastern or Harvard, you probably get drunk when your first head coaching job is in the NFL.

But that ain't saying a helluva lot. Do you folks realize that had we won today, we would have been tied with the Jets and both of us only ONE GAME out of the 6th playoff spot with the Steelers and Bengals both at 7-6 and we and the Jets at 6-7 and both of them playing each other on the final day of the season.

Excellent chance to make the playoffs.

Now gone. Thanks to "Bombs Away, Joe Philbin."

I'm not sure Ireland will put the picks to good use. If his track record is any indication, the picks will be wasted.

Wrong. We are still not mathematically eliminated playoffs. So, theoretically, we could pick between 1st and 32nd.

Doesn't matter where we pick, Ireland will still mess it up.

Why even watch with your attitude? Why even root for your Team? Do you see anything positive in anything? According to you , last years picks were awful and this coming will as well. Why watch? Whats your point?

Cheyran B you do comprehend that it was the QB that decided to make those deep throws right???

Tannehill is very clueless. Does not look deep until late in the 4th quarter then tries to make throws he cannot and that Moore can.

RESPONSE: I did acknowledge the possibility that we could go to the playoffs and WIN the SuperBowl by saying "barring the impossible in that we end up in the playoffs and go to the SuperBowl."

My mistake was using the word "theoretically" instead of "PRACTICALLY SPEAKING."

If you were head coach and Off. Coord., would you give him that option in that situation? And if he threw the long bomb on first down, would you let him do it ON SECOND DOWN, THEN ON THIRD DOWN AND THEN THROW THE BALL AWAY TO AVOID A SACK ON FOURTH DOWN OR at some point would you tell him what we needed to accomplish to keep the drive alive, which is the most important thing.

I love the fact that he went deep . havn't seen anyone do that in a while here. The throws were catchable and if not for 49ers defense(one of the best in the NFL) we might have scored or drew a flag. This season is meaningless. Only one way to get better at those throws. That Oline was terrible yesterday. Martin got flattened. Tanny did what he could.

I think I was most frustrated as a dolphins fan when just a few short years ago all we did was short pass/check/dump/run. Constantly. Over and over. Never went for it on 4and 1.

I love these shots. I'd much rather go down swinging at the ball then always looking for a walk. I'm good with yesterday. Wake Killed. Defense played stout. Needs improvement , but Teams know we are no pushovers. We will throw downfeild and we have a decent middle game. We need to find a better Powerback in free agency though. Lane is a butter fingers.

What attitude? You mean the one that pointed out we could still make the playoffs?

Just another case of you following up any post I write with some negative comment about me.

Obviously you are obsessed with me. You should get over it.

Critisizing tannehill on his first year would be the same thing as critisizing philbin on his first year. JMO.

He has a point though Cheyrene. Its his first year with the headphones AND the clipboard. I like the fact that he's not afraid to take chances. And he did save that penalty with the quick timeout remember!? grinning smiley

Give him a break.....he is getting some schooling as well. I like him. He gets Pissed off. Thats always a plus. I HATE coaches who show no emotion.

But at some point in time, Treasure, we have to stop accepting "bad" because it is better when compared with "worse."

You know that old saying that "Let's not let the perfect become the enemy of the good."

It works the same way in terms of the bad side of the equation.

I look at last year and I see games that we lost under Sparano that definitely Philbin would have won.

But I also say definitively that had Sparano been our coach, we would have kicked the winning field goal in the Jets game because it would have been a 40 yarder instead of a 47 yarder.

I can also definitively say that we would have won the Arizona game because Tanny would not have been back passing when he got sacked and fumbled WHEN WE HAD A 7 POINT LEAD and when Arizona took that fumble and drove into the endzone to tie us and then beat us in overtime.

Had Sparano been coaching yesterday, I bet we get a lot closer to the goal line than where our final drive stalled because of the four bombs.

So you can say that Stalin is, at least, better than Hitler but at some point you have to want somebody that is not bad.

Right now, since I see Philbin making the same mistakes of recklessness over and over and over and over again and doesn't seem to be aware that there is a problem with his strategical playcalling, I am very pessimistic.
