Tannehill's season

I hate to say it, but when you look at his stats reality is they aren't very good for such a high pick compared to other rookie QB's this year and last, especially compared to guys like Wilson, Dalton, drafted later. Not even as good as Ponder which isn't saying a lot. Foles has looked comparable

Maybe it is good to find out what we have, we don't have any real WR weapons so stats are somewhat misleading. I have seen some promising things, but nothing showing he is the real deal

We are the sixth lowest scoring team in the league

With Mooore I think we are 7-5 right now going possibly 9-7, but tanking it for a better pick helps more, if we make the right picks

Exactly. Nothing has really changed with Tannehill over the season. We may need to seriously consider drafting another QB.

Yes.

That trick never works. We have been tanking it for how many years now? This team has had high draft picks for the past 7 years and nothing has come of it.

We need to start with the GM. But since the owner is too spineless to fire this GM, we need to get a new owner.

Not sure next year we will be looking for a QB but we could be in a few, but have to get some weapons to know where we are. Slow WR or fast WR projects (Ginn & Gates) don't cut it in the NFL

As far as the pick history, some teams turn it around but as mentioned our track record since marino left is pretty bad. Hoping Ireland & Philbin didn't get sold a bill of goods from Sherman, after a year and a half of college experience. Has there ever been a successful pro QB with this few college game experience?

This is basically RT's junior year...only instead of playing Big 12 defenses, he's playing NFL defenses on a team that's rebuilding.

Out of 11 starters, we have about exactly 1 player that is consistently good. Mike Pouncey. You know, the guy some of you also said was a reach...and that would never reach the level of his brother. It's just another knee jerk reaction by people who think they know more than NFL coaches.

EVERY other guy on that offense is good to great one week...and then disappears for the next 3 weeks.

And you expect Tannehill to be consistent?

You don't think Andrew Luck is helped a bit by his 5 time pro bowl WR? His team as a whole?

You don't think Russell Wilson is helped by his #4 ranked defense and #7 ranked running game?

The point is...the teams that are doing well are doing well as a team.

Juat ask RG3. He is probably the most talented rookie to ever play the game....and his TEAM has won exactly ONE more game than Miami.

Wow you have some short memories.

This was my exact argument as to why we shouldn't use a top ten pick on this guy. You two flamed me for that.

Glad to see you are finally seeing things my way.grinning smiley

Only in your warped and exaggerated imagination. You are the only one that said he isn't worth a top 10 pick.

You're right. His stats are horrible. His QB rating ranks him at 31st in the league. We went from having the 12th ranked QB in the league last year to the 31st this year all for the sake of building for the future.

Hardly true. Before the Dolphins made it clear they would draft Tannehill, most mock drafts had him going in the second.

As soon as all the draft pundits realized the Dolphins were picking him, they adjusted their mock drafts to represent this.

Last January, nobody had Tannehill going in the first round. Nobody.

I think we were lucky to be in the position to get him at 8. He would have been gone by 12. Tanny is our future. I hope we can take advantage of the picks we have early in the draft as well as a few Gems later on.

I think he was only taken at #8 because of his familiarity with Sherman and his offense. I believe his overall inexperience would have had him further down the board placed just above Weeden had it not been for Sherman coming to Miami. I like his moxie but he definitely has a way to go - I cringe whenever RT throws a pass.

I'm pretty disappointed though that Ireland left him out in the cold and fed him to the wolves without improving the receiver corps to help him out some. Look at Washington for example - although they sold the farm to get RGIII, they still went and got Pierre Garcon. Seems like every other team out there whose starting their rookie QB as of late has done a better job than Miami of getting people for their QB to throw the ball to.

My personal opinion is that Ireland should be held fully accountable and fired if this team doesn't improve as a whole within two years from now.

Definetely agree with this.

I'd be happy if he turns out another Joe Flacco.

2 words. JAY FEILDER. he had the stats to win him the starting job and an exention. Big fing whoop those stats did us huh? eye rolling smiley

I see a kid with heart desire and tenacity. Smart as heck. He has the Intangibiles that you can't teach. Missing on heartline when he was wide open is stuff that's fixable. Reading defenses better, all that stuff you just can't learn without getting in there and taking your lumps.

We had one of the all time best pure passers the league will ever see in #13 Dan Marino. All those records and stats equated to Nantz. Doughnuts. No Championships.

Tanny has what it takes. Stop looking into all of the negatives and see what else he has acomplished this season. And its not over yet.

That is rich. Jay Fiedler?!? Stat?!? In his best year, he barely broke 200ypg and only once got 20TDs. Would I rather have Fiedler in his prime than Tannehill right now? Yes. But does that make Jay Fiedler a good QB to anyone other than Dave Wanny? No.

Jay Fiedler having good stats is a laugher. The exhibition of your football knowledge is going in reverse.

You are the one that brought up Fiedler's stats. You are the one saying Fiedler's stats are good. Don't know what planet you are on here.

Do you even know what a stat is?

You listed a couple season records and names. But sorry, I don't see a single passing statistic listed.

First of all, you haven't listed any statistics that make me think anything about Fiedler.

But if I look up his stats, I find Fiedler was pretty damned mediocre.

So, all and all, I have no clue what you are talking about. I suppose you are just looking for a reason to bitch and call someone a douche?

Yea, you are the smart one.

And, of course, BUT FOR that fortuitous injury of De Berg, who knows what Elway's career would have been but the lesson for me is, "Give the rookie a chance."

Gasp. Some folks on tyhis board, although not saying it directly, think that RT is worse than Ryan Leaf.

RT is still a rookie, guys, and I do have eyes; I can see what the other rookie QBs have been doing. Different teams, different situations. And has been said, ad nauseum, RT didn't have that much experience as a college QB. He's basically learning on the job, and IMO, doing pretty well.

Yeah,he does have a long way to go, but give him some top-notch weapons and an OL that is consistent, then grade him.

That's why I am saying give him next year and see how he does.

He has shown the skills and intangibles of an NFL QB.

Let's draft some players next year that can help him, along with a few key defenders.

I fail to see how being in the first year makes him miss on wide open receivers.

he has not improved any during the year.

I would say his weapons have all been consistant this year, but Tannehill has not been.

It looks like he thinks ok ill throw 3 passes to Bess then 3 to hartline, then .... how about reading the defense????

Let's keep things on the bright side shall we.
Tanny's development is so far ahead of the curve that he hit his "sophomore slump" a full year ahead of time.
