This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
RT17 was voted MVP of the Dolphins this season by the local media (I'm sure Omar kicked his cat upon hearing this news), I guess he'd have to win in my eyes also, but I'm curious which player this board would vote MVP since Ryans support is so up/down on here.

Sure...but we'll be picking 15-19...what if we had the top pick?
Tsk, tsk, tsk, isn't that a sad comment on the state of our team? Tanny is no way close to being an all-star. He still is a poor performer in the pocket and most of his numbers come out of the read option, I'd bet.
Not saying that he's bad but just saying it's not like he was winning every game. also not saying that he won't be great one day but not yet.
I do not feel comfortable asserting we had a most valuable player in the sense of being priceless as opposed to just the best we had but it probably would have been Knowshon Moreno, had he not got injured early.
I don't think it's a sorry state at all. it looks like a bright future at QB, IMO.
No one is saying RT is an all star (or priceless) but he was clearly the most valuable player on the team...although he has shown the potential to be an all star. He just needs consistency.
The typical NFL QB through 3 years in the NFL has between 90 & 104 starts under their belt including NCAA & NFL. Tannehill is approaching his 67th start (from that standpoint). That basically represents a typical QB after their rookie year in the NFL.
Projecting Knowshon to be MVP is a hell of a projection based on 1 game. The guy NEVER had more than 1030 yards in a season. History is far better indicator than projections.
A QB (getting on the job training) putting together a season in which he is at or near the top 10 in every major category is pretty valuable in my book.
11th in yards
6th in completion %
10th in passing TD's
Around 13th in QB rating
5th in rushing yards
Who else has been more valuable to the Dolphins? Not, who could or should have been.

Okay, just considering THIS YEAR'S team....Cam Wake.....Lamar Miller....
most valuable means (if not all-star which you said that nobody is saying) then the guy who produced the most for this team.
The guy who without whom this team, instead of being an 8 win or 9 win team would be a 3 or 4 win team.
Of course, without Philbin, we would be an 11 win team but you didn't ask what was the biggest drag on on team?
But if you guys just want something to cheer about and hope for the future, don't let me spoil the pot party.

Yeah, it's true. I just saw it in that first half. May have been the blocking, may have been the opposition, but that's the first time I've been thrilled with an offensive player, running back or otherwise, since the Marino days.

But think about it, that means that about 10 qbs are better.
Could we say that of Griese or Marino.......or even Woodley (Theisman and Montana were better but not many others)?
Just because we've gone through Hennes and Penningtons and the like, have we become so desperate that good mediocrity instead of bad mediocrity passes as near greatness.

Oh, here we go with the stats. No offense but that's the computer geek's approach to football.

ouch...That digging noise you are presently hearing is Bob uprooting the goalposts in preparation of moving them...

LOL. Two different things holic! Yes Peyton WAS the MVP for that team but going from 12 or 11 wins to 2 is more than suffering a loss of MVP,....its tanking.

Now you're just making stuff up. LOL he had 1080 yards for 5 tds and 8 picks that year.

Well that's your definition. I would say..who contributed more to wins and success? Answer: The QB, RT.

I don't agree with your description of what an MVP means.

RESPONSE: One thousand yard passer, huh?

RESPONSE: No, I don't agree. Of course, there is a difference between "can't pass worth a damn" and "don't need to pass".

RESPONSE: Then you should never have ventured out to argue against me. You should have simply said that. I'm not in it to argue that you are wrong in what you consider to be an MVP but you attempted to argue that I was wrong IN WHAT I CONSIDER TO CONSTITUTE AN MVP.
AS I RECALL, THE POLL QUESTION ASKED THE READERS WHO THEY think is the team MVP.

MVP?? The QB should always be the MVP, it's the most important position on the team. IF your QB isn't your MVP then you have a problem at the QB position.
The QB has a hellacious handicap in this vote.
If the question was, "who is the most dynamic, impactful player at his position, I would give my vote to Landry.
Well, Hooligan, of course everything you say is absolutely on point
but the BELIEVERS on this board, the kool-aid drinkers, have themselves absolutely convinced that Tanny fills all qualifications and even Joe Football, who I respect as the best poster on this board, tried to convince me was better than Bob Griese and ............that Philbin is a coach who is getting better and..........that ROSS REALLY, REALLY CARES about the team instead of is just impressed by a professional butt kisser like Joe Philbin.

Joe is correct in that Woodley threw for 1,080 yards, but that was in a strike-shortened Super Bowl season. Woodley's first full season as a starter was 1980 where he threw for 1,850 yards. His second full season he threw for 2,470 yards. Then along came Marino.

Kinda difficult to compare Griese to Tanneyhill at this point in their careers.
Griese had a fantastic running game; he had great receivers (with Warfield being the main guy); he had a great OL that have guys in the HOF (and IMO, a few more of them should be there); he had the No Names for most of his career;and he had Shula.

You're damn right the season, as a whole, bothers me.
But with this thread being about Griese and RT, are you, Chryen, saying that RT is the main reason? If so, I highly disagree with you. Sure, RT could have done more, but our coaching staff and defense played more of a roll in Miami losing than did RT.
Agreed, there is something rotten in Denmark, but the stink emanates from the whole organization, not just one or two individuals.
