Do we have a chance vs Pats?

NE has been scoring points like crazy. There are on pace to break their own NFL record. Obviously they are a good offense.

The defense/ST's has scored 8 Td's this year.

The best defenses they have played were AZ (7th) & Sea (5th). They lost to both teams. The beat the Broncos who are ranked 4th.

They scored 23 points vs Sea, 18 vs AZ, 30 vs Bal in a loss and 31 in a win vs Denver.

Our best games came against the Bengals and the Seahawks although we competed closely with the Cardinals and we also beat the Rams. All those teams have good defenses.

We have not faced a potent passing attack since the Texans (although we have made some average teams look potent)

We seem to lose to the teams we should beat and win vs the tough ones. I hope this week is no different.

If we can hold the Patriots to 21 points or under, our odds of winning go way up...hold them to 14 pooints almost a guranteed win. We have not beat a team this year that scored more then 21 points... The only game we lost that we held the opposing team to under 21 points was the last Bills game, with them only scoring 19.
THe opposing teams scores for our losses this year, 30,23,24,23,37 and 19.
THe opposing teams scores when we win,13,13,14,9 and 21....

The patriots scoring the last 4 games, 49,59, 37, 45.

Well lets hope the defense can play inspired football, because our best scoring game of the year 36(raiders) doesnt even beat the patriots 4 week low...

Which is more likely to happen, our offense scores alot more points then our avg or our defense steps ups and hold the patriots way below their avg... One way or another for us to win, something has to give---

Only chance is if we blitz Brady on EVERY DOWN (ha, ha, even fourth down, ignore the punter and aim for him on the bench).

No, Toko, I'd blame you if it happenhs but for the fact that I know that would probably hurt your interests. LOL. Maybe what you're saying is that you don't want US to get any ideas.

The margin of error for us in this game is non-existent.

We need to be perfect in every aspect of the game.

Play good Defense.

Win the turnover battle.

Hold them in the 20's.

Play great on special teams.

O-line has to show up and open holes and shut down their pass rush.

Offense can't turn the ball over.

If all that happens we can win.

If only some of that happens we are going to lose.

If none of that happens we are going to get smoked.

Wrong emphasis.

We need to worry more about pressuring Brady than keeping the pressure off RT although we should do that too.

But RT, unlike Brady, can scramble and pass or run.

Brady is a dead duck if he does not get time.

Accordingly, maximum pressure on him is the key.

Obviously I agree with the Truth that we need to be nearly perfect on everything else but my difference is that I say regardless of whether we do EVERYTHING ELSE perfect, we will STILL GET BLOWN OUT IF BRADY HAS TIME TO PASS.

In that poll that we had going last week the #1 need of the team by a large margin was WR but, clearly we can't win a shoot-out against NE unless we can put relentless pressure on Brady to get rid of the ball. My #1 need for this team remains a blistering pass rush. Until we get that we won't consistently have much of a chance against the elite high scoring teams. Just ask Marino how that worked out.

Agreed, we have been hurt by mobile QB's.

Luck, Locker, Fitzpatrick all scrambled to convert 3rd downs...Brady is less likely to do so. get to Brady early and he gets frustrated.

The Pats D is weak...they are 27th overall.

We have a real chance.

Have to keep Welker/Edleman limited and shut down their running game

If we lose this game NE wins the East.

Things in our favor....

Chandler Jones is out. Gronk is out.

Left guard Logan Mankins (ankle, calf), right guard Dan Connolly (back), right tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back, knee).

tight end Aaron Hernandez (right ankle), rookie LB Dont’a Hightower (left hamstring), WR Brandon Lloyd (knee), defensive tackle Kyle Love (knee), OL Nick McDonald (right shoulder), linebacker Brandon Spikes (knee), wide receiver Wes Welker (ankle), and linebacker Tracy White (left foot).

Julian Edelman suffered a concussion against the Jets.

Vollmer and Mankins missed last Thursday's game against the Jets.

We all know BB fudges the injury report but they do have a few key players out.

So they probably put Talib on Hartline. Their secondary....

Right Cornerback: Kyle Arrington, Alfonzo Dennard
Strong Safety Devin McCourty Patrick Chung
Free Safety Steve Gregory Tavon Wilson

Bess needs another Big day as will Clay and/or Fasano and Moore or Marshall.

Hopefully we can generate some heat on Brady but blitzing is out of the question. Brady will kill us with short passes for big plays to Welker etc. We need pressure with 4 and cover 6.

Like that attitude!!!!!

Sounds like one of the Dolphins from the Marino or Griese eras!!!!

Great words to come out of the team leader at this point in time given what's happened to us this year.

I like that attitude.

If Kevin Coyle has the DB's playing 10 yards off the LOS in zone coverage, I will be calling for his head.

I know we may not have stud CB's to play press coverage but this cushion has been killing us and double that for Welker and Brady....and the screen game.

Well I am certain if we lose it is ALL Tannehill's fault. Even if a plane crashes into the stadium and makes us lose, it will be his fault - Dolfanqueen

Pass rush would be part of the equation of holding them under 27 Pts.

But at the end of the day it doesn't matter how they do it. Lots of heat on Brady all day or big plays in the red zone forcing turnovers and fg's. the only thing on defense that really matters is keeping them within reach on the scoreboard.

Thats exactly how the giants beat the pats in the Sbowl....That was some crazy aggressive pass rush.

I think thats the only hope we have against new england to at least make it close even if we do not win...make it close. And have cameron wake have one of his best games rushing the passer as a member of the phins.

If we happen to struggle rushing brady you know its going to be over from the first quarter.

As much as i hate to admit it its the truth.

Agreed, but this team is a machine, and well oiled at that. The only time Miami has beat them recently was when they pulled that stupida$$ wildcat out, since then they have not stood much of a chance.

One thing is certain, I will be surrounded by beer.

But he giants did that without much blitzing. They rushed their 4 d lineman almost exclusively.

We don't have the depth up front they do when it comes to rushing the passer.

They could rotate 6-8d lineman and stay fresh. We have two.

Bottom line is we can'tplay them they way the giants did the whole game. We don't have the right personnel yet.

We are going to have to take more risks and we are going to need a great deal of good fortune to be within 1 score with 10 min to go.

Exactly agreed....thats why they were so tough... we only have one great pass rusher in wake.

They had four...thats why they made it so tough on brady.

IMO that was the main reason the giants beat them...

Even like that eli had to do some magic trick at the end to win..on one of the games.

The pats are that tough.
