he was released by Philly. 18 sacks last year but younger guy stepping up and babin carries a 5.75 mil contract for 2012.

Sure.

Change of scenery might do him good.

But if I were him I'd be looking for a contender for this year.

I'd think twice before taking anyone released by Philly.

The guy has had 36 sacks over the last 2.5 seasons.

I'd take him for the next year or two opposite Wake on passing downs if he's healthy and be very happy with that addition.

Especially if he can play Sunday and put Brady on his arse. his knock is that he has been unproductive lately and to quote.."not the most favorite player in the locker room"

The locker room issue is an interesting one.

I agree that you want every player to be a 'team first' guy who is the consummate locker room leader.

BUT....what if the problem is with the coaching? What effect does that have on players in the locker room?

Is it possible that he is wound too tight and doesn't handle failure well? Some of the best players I have ever coached were complete A$$HOLE$ when we lost games (especially defenders). They needed a different approach to get them to not be a negative distraction.

That said....he is a 10 year vet and may have had his best seasons behind him.

Pick him up for 2 years + the rest of this season, maybe w/an option for an additional year. If O VERNON develops, make BABIL a specialist, and limit his "playing time". Fresher legs all around, and fresh legs win close games.

A sack-master opposite Wake--get him. No where to go but backwards or step in the pocket towards Starks, Soliai and Dansby. Could be the person to make our D more formidable. thumbs up

It seems to me the Eagles are getting ready to re-tool. The GM quit after 3 years of failed drafts and FA aquisitions. They went "all in" with big names and it didn't work out but Andy Reid has final say so it falls on him.

Cromartie, Nnamdi, DeMeco Ryans, Michael Vick.

The biggest mistake was signing Vick IMO.

This seems to be a money issue since they save big time for releasing Babin.

Also seems he will clear waivers.

They have no offensive Line to speak of and their defense is crap. They drafted Brandon Graham in the first round in 2010 and Vinny Curry in the 2nd this year. Babin is the fall guy. He still leads the team in sacks. Grahama has 1.5, Trent Cole 1.5. Their DT's have more sacks than any of the other pass rushers. Babin has 5.5...the team has 17.

Nobody probably wants to pay 5 mil for a 31 year old DE.

He has been called out by moron Hugh Douglas (retired) and got into it with fans who were cussing at him from the sidelines. We all know Philly fans are idiots.

Not sure where he will end up but Nnamdi may be next.

I doubt he comes here to "stunt" young players growth (FO) but he has as many sacks as Odrick and Vernon put together.

Guess they shouldn't have passed over JPP for Graham.
