Who do you want to win Thanksgiving and Based on what

The Patsies or the Jests.

And please no based on pure hatred comments. We all hate them both.

Just on Miami's best chance to win the division or make the playoffs.

The Standings are

AFC East Team W L Div Conf
Patriots 7 3 3-0 6-1
New York Jets 4 6 2-2 3-4
Buffalo Bills 4 6 1-3 3-5
Miami Dolphins 4 6 1-2 3-5

We split with the Jets and play Buffalo once again away and play the Patriots at home.

So strategically, who are you rooting for and why?

I will not root for any division rivals EVER.
I will however hope for Brady to trip over his shoe laces, break the thumb of his throwing hand and, miss the rest of the season and the first game of the play-offs.

Right now this Miami Dolphins team doesn't even seem like middle of the pack material, so I will start this off with the disclaimer that this game on Thanksgiving has no real meaning for Miami playoff wise.

But of course that is no fun, so I will write this from the kool-aid perspective that I had a couple of weeks ago. There is very scant hope of catching the conference leader so you're trying your best to get into wild card position. From that angle it is clear a Patsy win would be best as the Jest are a small threat that could climb back into the wild card race themselves.

Ok lets assume the following Conference winners:
Pats
Ravens
Texans
Broncos

Here are the teams jockeying for position.
Colts (head to head -)
Steelers
Bengals (head to head +)

and the long shots:
Bills
Jests
Phins
Titans
Chargers

My true advice: enjoy your Turkey legs on Thursday and invest if you can on Texan, Skin and Pats victories. smiling smiley

You asked for opinions based playoff strategy but after watching this team the last two weeks, IMO we're not close to a playoff team.

So, I HAVE to base my thought on who I like the least and my pecking order goes Jets, Pats, Bills, Cowboys, 49ers, etc. and based solely on that alone, I will have to marginally pull for NE. There's just something about watching Rex and company writhe in defeat that makes me....content!

The pats...They going to the playoffs as much as we hate to admit it....

i woulnt mind the jets winning a couple more games....they wont go to the playoffs and will draft a couple more slots to the bottom ...

Have you noticed that NE gets all the tough teams at home while we have to play them on the road?
Is there some kind of a formula that determines that or is it just blatant favoratism?confused smiley

I love your optimism Henry. Yes, mathematically we still have a shot at the play-offs but, have you noticed that there are only four teams behind us in the conference. Mathematically we might have a better shot at the #1 pick than making the play-offs the way the team is playing.
It sucks but, once again this just isn't our year.

It's better to watch a game with than without hope. Of course, once we are realistically eliminated, then we start hoping for the other sucky teams to start winning so we can get a better draft choice.

Current standings are.

Starting with New England (Don't worry about Houston and Baltimore who only have 1 and 2 losses, no way are we going to get the number one seed) here are the rest of the teams with better records than us. We are competing for four spots.

3. New England Pats 7 3
4. Denver Broncos 7 3
5. Indianapolis Colts 6 4
6. Pittsburgh Steelers 6 4
7. Cincinnati Bengals 5 5
8. San Diego Chargers 4 6
9. Tennessee Titans 4 6
10.New York Jets 4 6
11.Buffalo Bills 4 6
