How could a defense that played so good in the first 7 games, including the losses, have played so bad in the last two games.

Because they suck. That's how. Easy explanation.

I think it's because we only have 1 guy that is a true pressure player (Wake) and we only have 1 decent guy in our secondary (Jones).

Soliai and Starks are solid.

Everybody else on our defense is below average and overpaid.

They havent played that good in the first 7 games.

The defense got smoked against the Texans, Rams, Cards, and Colts (even though they were week 8).

I cringe when I think what Brady is going to put up against this D.
We could be talking close to 1200 yds over 2 games.

Yeah but we played well against Houston, at least in the first half.

We allowed only 24 points against the Cardinals and we scored 21, we beat the Rams and they scored only 14 and the Colts scored only 23 and we scored 20.

However, the Titans scored 37 points on us (to our 3). That's a big difference.

Turnovers! We were getting them. Last two games we've been giving them!

Cards are bad, bengals are bad, Jets are bad, Rams are avg

Houston is the only top team we have played

Pats could be ugly , but high possibly scoring

Some call it match ups, others mismatches, the bottom line is weaknesses.

A LB that defenses the run but can't cover a slant is a weakness. A CB that tires quickly is a weakness. A substitute player who is not as agile, not as mentally aware, is a weakness.

To win, coaches need to field the best team to exploit their opponent's weaknesses. It needs to have a game plan that is consistent with that philosophy. Players must buy into that philosophy. If the coaches are wrong the game may be lost. If the players fumble, make mental mistakes, don't take advantage of mistakes made by their opponent, the game may be lost. The Dolphins have weaknesses on the field and on the sidelines.

Our LB's make no game changing plays.

The defensive coach has the DB's playing SOFT zone defense. This team cannot play zone defense. They must not have watched the film from last year.

Pretty easy to pick apart a secondary that has the DB's lining up 7-10 yards off the receivers. I can most times pick where the QB will throw the ball based on how far our guys are off the ball.

2 plays in the game. The play they scored on a TD pass. Our DB was about 7 yards off the ball. I was thinking QB will throw right there on a slant. Receiver ran a delayed slant, caught the ball and got TD.

We had the ball 3rd and short. Bess is lined up inside. The defender angles himself on the snap to prevent Bess from getting slant. Ball falls incomplete.

Bad play\coaching on our side. Great play\coaching on their side.

Our secondary is inexperienced or just plain sucks depending on your pov. In several of the early games that was offset by us getting pressure on the QB. The last two weeks we haven't been able to get to the QB and he has picked our iffy secondary apart.

The NFL is like the Borg from Star Trek. They might get surprised early on but they adapt. The Best teams constantly evolve , change it up and do many things well. if you are a one Trick pony in this league its just a matter of time until other teams catch on and expose your weakness.

I think not having Starks last game killed our run D

What kind of a question is that?

I will answer it in a few steps.....

Answer:

Step 1. Because the other teams are trying to beat your butt.

Step 2. It is remotely possible that another team can do better than you.

Step 3. Because NFL players are human and can make mistakes like you and i.

Step 4. Because sometimes a team comes to play with passion and the other team does not. Thats why its so important to have a great coach and motivator at the same time.

Overall we did not play too good in the last two games because the other 2 teams played better than us.

Its very simple.

In my opinion there is no doubt of the answer- they're on the field waaaay too much. An offense that does nothing doesn't give their defense much succor.
