Bench Tanny for Moore? What dumb stupid talk. I expect that from DB , but not the rest of you. Moore is a competant 2nd rounder. A Career Journyman.
WTF would you bench Tanny and crush his confidence when he is the clear cut future? Guess what? Put Moore in and they still have a serious defense problem. Long doesn't block anybetter and you have still recievers who drop balls. What does Moore do to help correct the penaties?
You let Tanny take his lumps and grow from them. You play everyone who is a free Agent and let them know they are playing for a Job next season.
This team is headed for an AFC Championship in 2015. Geez people. Give Philbin a chance.

DK: You seem to have an affinity for ignoring the point. You were complaining that Tanny wasn't a top 10 pick. Of course, ALL top 10 pick QBs are great, right (Akili Smith, Tim Couch, Jamarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf)? Oh, and QBs picked after the top 10 can't possibly be good enough to start on day 1 (Big Ben, Joe Flacco, Russell Wilson).

We can thank the new modern trend of starting a top ten pick QB. Here's the deal though DK - He would never have been a top ten pick if it wasn't for Sherman being here. He was called a reach by all the experts, but Ireland was backed into a corner to draft him at #8 (Thanks to the Fireland movement). One of those damned if you do, damned if you don't situations.
The funny part is D***F**K was just waiting for this opportunity all season long. RT's play hasn't stopped D***F**K from bashing him before but this week is the first time RT has really deserved harsh criticism. He had a bad game in week one but you could still see the upside and take away some positives since it was his first career start.
RT hasn't been the exact model of a great QB but what he has done is show that he is getting better and can be a franchise QB. He has still been impressive given his experience level.
Now after one game in week 9 D**K thinks he has redeemed his scouting prowess....or the perception that he has any. He would have you believe that this one game is the epitome of what Tannehill's career will be. Well, I am more apt to judge the overall body of work as opposed to a few instances that are more out of character. The exception not the rule...so to speak. How quickly we forget the good games and he was able to protect the ball over the previous two starts.
This game showed a lot about Miami...that we still have a lot of work to do before we are serious contenders. The ENTIRE team. Not just Ryan Tannehill.
This nonsensical theory about top 10 picks and "taking two years to develop is the "definition" of a second rounder" is ridiculous, short sighted, ignorant and mainly just to offend and provoke an argument.
For one, It hasn't happened yet so stop pretending it has.
Secondly, A few QB's that reside in Denver, New Orleans & NY just may disagree with you. Actually they already showed how utterly stupid this theory is...
Since you're obviously living in a fantasy world, let me pass along some fantasy advice....
Bess ended up with six targets in the 37-3 blowout, dropping one of them. He continues to be an afterthought behind Brian Hartline. Over the last five games, Bess has managed just 4.4 catches for 47.8 yards and he hasn't scored a touchdown all year. Move along. Nov 11 - 5:49 PM
Matt Moore completed 5-of-15 passes for 57 yards in the Dolphins' Friday night preseason game against the Panthers.Moore's preseason stats stand at 12-of-27 (44.4 percent) for 136 yards (5.04 YPA), no touchdowns and an interception. Ryan Tannehill fell back a bit Friday after a tremendous exhibition opener, but it's not going to matter if Moore continues to play this poorly. He struggled against Panthers second- and third-team defenders in this one. Moore isn't helping his trade stock, either. Aug 18 - 12:34 AM

I didn't start this thread. But I've been saying Tannehill amounts to little more than Henne since draft day. Apparently some others are beginning to see the light.
I get it. You are a fan of Tannehill above the team. And you will bash anyone that offers the most slight criticism, even if they are a fan of the team and want it to succeed.
You are more a fan of a player than the team. Be a team player eesti!
And you only seem to come out when Tanny does poorly. Funny you were kinda quiet two weeks ago. Your agenda is clear. Your fooling no one. DB. Hope you choke on one.

Two weeks ago? You mean when Matt Moore beat the Jets?

This is just a lie. Try using the search feature. An Tannehill didn't even play for one of those - so I'm not really even sure this supports the idea that I'm only here to talk about Tannheill.
I will say that whenever I mention the name "Tannehill" it spawns a lot of BS from some of you knuckleheads.
What has been exposed is Tannehill's stats. There really is no defense for those other than "he is only a rookie" - which is my point. Why are we playing a rookie when the rest of the team could compete for the playoffs?
And I believe the answer is that Ireland is trying to prove a point. Unfortunately, Ireland is looking like an idiot here.
You mean the rest of the team...as in the defense who got toasted for 31 points last week and gave up an all time NFL record to a rookie QB the week before.
yeah, they are real ready for a playoff race.
When are you going to admit this is a team sport and Tannehill isn't the only reason we are struggling? He had a bad game last week. The rest of the team has been playing bad for two weeks.
The idea that any of us can say Tannehill, at this stage of his development, is Henne-like or Marino-like is absurd. Saying that the kid is a bust is patently absurd. The truth is that we don't know. What we do know is that he has the physical tools to be very good. Jeff George had the physical tools but never had the brain or the disposition. Montana wasn't physically imposing but the intangibles were through the roof. What I do know is that it takes time to determine whether a QB is going to be a franchise player. Truthfully, Tannehill has had moments where he looks great and moments where he looks overwhelmed. But for anyone to say things like: "Tannehill amounts to little more than Henne" is a ridiculous statement because we didn't know what Henne was after 9 games. Unless there is someone on this board whose real name is Nostradamus, we'll all have to wait for a greater body of work to come to any conclusions. Period.

17 of which were the direct result of Tannehill turnovers. Another 7 came off of Reggie Bush's fumble in the first quarter.
An experienced QB could have led the team to over come this. A rookie QB throws picks that lead to even more points for the other team.
To put all of those points on the defense is absurd, and shows how skew your opinion of Tannehill is.
All we can say is RT quarterbacked this team to the worst home loss in over 40 years... That is a fact and not up for debate.. Another fact the last win this team had Matt Moore was the quarterback... RT needs to get his act together muy pronto...

Marino quarterbacked us to our worst playoff loss ever (62-7 loss to the Jaguars) back in 2000. So, obviously, Dan was a terrible QB.

Those points are on the defense. They don't automatically equate to points just bc a QB throws an int. The loss is on THE ENTIRE TEAM. Tannehill played like crap. So did the rest of the team.
You have no business talking about skewed opinions. You would have everyone believe that the loss was entirely RT's fault. Your trying to create fact out of a hypothetical situation...."IF Moore had started"...
Moore is a great backup. To think the entire team is going to play better just because he is on the field is about as skewed as you can get. There are few QB's in history that have that effect on the team. Moore is not one of them.
Wins and losses are the effect of a TEAM effort. Individual performances are the effect of individuals.
Something you fail to acknowledge is the FACT that Brian Hartline & Davone Bess UNDER TANNEHILL are going to have career years and probably both surpass 1000 yards.
Bess jumped to almost 13 ypc from 10 ypc WITH Tannehill under center. He is averaging 60 yards a game. He was 33.5 WITH Moore.
Hartline is averaging 82 yards per game. That puts him around 1,312 at the end of the year. He had 549 yards last year with Moore. That's more yardage than Brandon Marshall had AT ANY TIME in Miami and all but one year in his career.
They have both played better with RT than they have with ANYONE.
Stop trying to pretend you know how RT is going to turn out....and how Moore would do as a starter. It's just speculation. Try using some facts for once.
You want to compare Moore's best game to RT's worst just to try and back up a speculative, skewed, agenda promoting argument. In the words of the great Mike Ditka...Just stop it!
The jury is still out on Tannehill. The jury came back on Henne and he's is a backup QB. We missed on that pick. Hopefully, we have scored with Tannehill. I still remain optimistic about him and his skills and do believe that he continues to grow despite throwing 3 interceptions and being the QB at the helm during that debacle.
-----
Tonight is the Bills game. I expect short throws to the slot receivers, passes to Bush out of the backfield, throws to Fasano and Clay, and effort in the running game with Bush, Thomas and Miller. More basic things. The game will be close.
They need to give him the freedom to run when he has an open lane instead of just taking a sack or throwing into coverage. If Locker can do it so can RT. It would seriously open things up for the offense if the defense has to put a spy on Tannehill. Run and slide!
I think Tanny is mentally making a mistake by basically changing his nature from a quarterback who will just as soon run when he does not see a pass option he likes to one who will try to force the pass.
If he goes back to the Texas A & M Tanny, he will then become again the Ryan Tannehill of the early part of the season. Just because that Tannehill of the early part of this season did not HAVE to run much, does not mean that the Ryan Tannehill of the MIDDLE PART of the season does not have to either or that he should ignore that option.

And he retired following that defeat and never played football again after that embarrassing loss..

What you are seeing is the normal evolution of a rookie QB. In the first 7 games, teams blitzed Tannehill relentlessly. He proved to be exceptional at identifying the blitz, and since he is running an offense he knows very well, he knows exactly where to go with the ball. And the blitz also means one on one coverage for the receivers, particularly for Hartline.
In the last 3 games, that has all changed. Teams realized Tannehill was effective against the blitz. Now, they are backing off the blitz, dropping more guys into coverage, and putting a safety over the top of Hartline.
A book was developed around the league about Tannehill. Now, its up to Tannehill to adjust and learn. And it's also up to Sherman to help him out, and that isn't happening.

Bingo Mark.
This is why he needs to keep on playing and any calls for Moore are extremely shortsighted.
And its not just Sherman.
Our two biggest problems are that our receivers are the slowest group n the NFL and get little to no separation...even less against 7 or 8 in coverage. Add to that the fact that our O-line is getting eaten up by 3 and 4 man rushes (and its cant run block for crap) and its going to be ugly far more often than its going to be good.
Tannehill needs to keep playing and learning. It will benefit him and us next year when he has better talent on offense.

Exactly. They found it's easier to cover our average receivers than blitz Tannehill. That is also the reason for the fall off in the rushing game. No blitz so the lanes aren't there.
All that said, the last 2:00 are where the great ones shine. SO far Tannehil hasn't. Not giving up, but starting to wonder...

ME THREE!!! And, on top of that, the protection of Tannehill is getting bad. Funny, the parts collapsing are what should be two of three of our best assets. Jonathan Martin and Jake Long.

Two great, informative posts in a row. can't remember the last time happened on here.
