I'm a Dolphins fan. Some people don't like me because I'm a bigger fan of the TEAM than a single player.
I want this team to win. I see the team making mistakes, and the biggest mistake I see is playing a rookie QB too early. And I think the FO is doing this to cover up the fact that the FO reached for him in the draft.
This team should be leading the division. It would if it had kept Gerrard. But Ireland made it an issue of his own pride over the good of the team. He wanted to prove his first round pick wasn't a reach.
At this point, we'd likely have a better record with Henne.

This is a speed of the game thing. As a rookie, Tannehill is having enough trouble with other aspects of the game - faster D-Line, smaller passing lanes, smaller passing windows, audibles, etc. It takes a lot of time for most QBs to catch up with these aspects, and that is why most QBs - except for the most elite - normally sit on the sidelines their first season.
Add on that, Tannehill has an extra handicap of limited college experience.
So Tannehill is having trouble going to the second and third WR. He was trying that late last game but it was taking him too long to identify the other receivers. Obviously, Defenses have caught on and are starting to identify the primary receivers based on personell and formations. They are jumping routes and doubling up on the guy they think is the primary. RT needs to start going to his other WRs or he will get eaten alive. The NFL has figured him out.
Clearly the FO was pushing Tannehill to start. Getting rid of Gerrard was just stupid. Sure, he had an injury that Ireland didn't like. But Gerrard was ready by week 4 of the preseason. This is starting to look like exactly what I expected only in reverse. I thought Tannehill was going to have problems early and come on strong late. But it is the other way around - he appears to be a quick starter and is coming apart late. This is a metaphor for his game at the moment.

So I'm taking it you know more about football than Coach Philbin and Coach Sherman do?

Garrard? The 34 year old quarterback who hasn't played a game since 2010 due to injuries? If he's so capable, why has he NOT been signed by any other team (to my knowledge; NFL.com does not show him as being on a roster)? Not even as a THIRD STRINGER?
He was let go because he was injured then and he has not been signed because he is probably still injured and if we had kept him, he would still be injured and not playing now.

The title of this thread should be "Too late to bring in Moore". The time to start Moore was two weeks ago when we had a winning record.
Instead this coaching staff decided to continue to develop our young qb and let him learn to play through some pain instead of chasing the playoffs. Now that we are back under .500 we might as well see what the kid can do. He obviously doesn't have "it" now and the only way to find out if he will ever have "it" is to get him a lot of game time reps.
Barring an injury, plan on seeing Tannehill start the rest of the year.
Agreed GBO with the slight exception that when they saw how Moore could handle it after RT was injured early in that game, they should have started Moore the next game and continued until either Moore began to stink it up or until they were certain RT was 100%.
I think they, instead, thought it was more important to validate their draft of RT (which was already proven to be a good choice) even at the expense of ruining, instead of building up, RT's confidence.

The issue here isn't that the team is doomed. It is that we have a much better chance to compete with a veteran QB than a rookie QB. Leading a team as a rookie QB are for players like Andrew Luck, who came out of college with a more developed set of skills.
Tannehill is clearly raw. He has some serious weaknesses. Those weaknesses have been figured out, and are now exploited on a weekly basis. Meanwhile, any hope of making the playoffs is going down the drain.
I really hope the kid develops. I really hope this nonsense is all worth it.
I never had an expectation of playoffs this year. Also, why don't you take a look at Peyton Manning's or Troy Aikman's rookie years? Both started as rookies...and both struggled.

Exactly! I was onboard to start Moore unless Tanny was 100% which he obviously wasn't. Once again Philbin and co. made wrong call.
