Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't cinci and st Louis have winning records or at least at .500 when Miami beat them?

Additionally, up until last week, only two teams in the afc had winning records.

I'm just as excited about this teams development as the next dolfan.
But c"mon, playoffs?

We got beat by the very average Jets and Cards. We barely beat(and should have lost to) the Rams(who got destroyed by NE).

Mix in a rook(and seemingly fragile)QB, limited WR corp, and a questionable secondary, and we've got a very 9-7 / 7-9 team at best.

I'd say another year or two until we're a legit playoff contender if the development continues.

Bengals were 3-1 when we beat them.

Rams were 3-2 when we beat them.

socal, i would have said the same thing before the season but we need to re-evaluate our chances.

We have a very average offense true but we have shown an ability to run the ball very well at times and throw the ball well at times. Plus, we are getting better at taking care of the football. Our QB got injured on a freak non-contact play and is not going to miss a start so I'm not sure how he is fragile.

We have awesome special teams.

We have a very good defense on third down, creating TO, and in the red zone. This equates to having the third best scoring defense in the NFL and isn't limiting points and creating TO what defense is all about?

We have a very easy remaining schedule aside from NE (inconsistent so far but dangerous) and SanFran (obviously very good).

The AFC is ridiculously weak. We are 4-3 and would make the playoffs today. We could realistically finish 9-7 and make the playoffs.

We could easily be 6-1 so I'm not sure how close OT losses to NYJ and ARI really count against us.

I doubt anyone thinks of us as SuperBowl contenders but we are definitely playoff contenders.

and looking at our schedule we could go on a very long winning streak....6-7 games. All game leading up to NE are very winnable.

the AFC is crap this year. if the season ended today the colts and us would be in the playoffs. We are at best a 9-7 team which usually doesn't get you in the playoffs but this year it just might given our weak schedule

more important is how well is the team positioned to make deep runs next year and beyond. unlike the 2008 team I think we are in good shape for sure. that team got there by tricking folks with the wildcat, playing a vet QB on his last legs, last place schedule, turning the ball over at an aberrationally low rate, and lucking out bc the pats lost brady in game 1. this seasons seems more legit
