At least there was hope of getting better back in those lean years...but nowadays?

I would have to say this years cluster , extending Ireland after starting 3-0 then the bullygate, then the Bess rumored non disclosure, the TV show where we looked like fools, and last 2 years of crap drafts, and no decent candidate even wanting to consider the team has to be the bottom. Hopefully this guy surprises everyone

How about a compromise? The last 10 years were a disaster.

Since Dave Wannabe took over this team has been a joke. Mainly because we never had a legitimate QB during all that time. Finally we do. I think that makes us a very dangerous Team once we get Ryan the help he needs. Is Hickey that person? Lets see.

Condemning the Team because of NFL politics and rumors scared off others is silly.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

The severity and duration of this franchises ineptitude is what we now debate…

The absolute systemic dysfunctionality is so perverse there's only one possible cure. A complete overhaul starting with ownership.

At this point it is what it is. And that realization has turned a whole bunch of Dolphin loyalists (Hyde included) into disgusted protestors because we realize the situation is essentially hopeless as long a Ross the Clown owns the team.

Yep. The results are 100% in:

We suck from TOP to Bottom!

This team hasn't been the same since the day Shula was shoved aside in favor of Jimmy Johnson. I knew it then, but I never in my worst nightmares believed it would get this bad.

Should Shula have just stayed here indefinitely? Guy hadn't produced in over a decade as well. WITH DAN MARINO IN HIS PRIME. J.J. did very well and was on his way to a championship with a killer defense but he had a life crisis. I do not blame the man. unfortunate for us though.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

You never know....Ross may just Forest Gump his way into some success and all we needed was Dennis Hickey. winking smiley

Stranger things have happened.

I bet disgruntled fans were calling for Jimmy Johnson's head back in 1990 after going 1-15 and then 7-9 with a young struggling QB. They were probably calling for Aikman's as well when after HIS SECOND YEAR and he had a 56% completion rate, 2500, 11 td's and 18 int's AND A 66 QB rating!

If only we had a QB that could do better than that! oh wait...

If only teams would listen to their psychic fans that can tell how good a personnel guy is based solely on the team he came from and the success or failure of his former boss!!!!!

I don't blame JJ either. And yes, it was unfortunate for us, especially as he left us Dave Wannestedt to take his place.

No not necessarily going on indefinitely... but Shula probably had a few more years of coaching in him. He was still producing wins and playoff appearances during his final years before he was forced out (which was done ceaselessly, in poor taste, I might add). During these final years, Don also dealt with a family crisis: his wife died of cancer.

Johnson's record as a coach in Miami was 38-31 over four seasons.

Shula's last four years, when he was supposedly over the hill, game had passed him by, etc., was BETTER than Johnson's at 41-28, if I added correctly.

Would Shula have continued his winning ways if he'd have stayed on a little bit longer? Probably, maybe...Nobody knows. But it is probably safe to say we wouldn't have ended up with Dave W as a coach.

Bottom line. Things change. Erosion happens. Sandcastles are devoured. Stinky GMs and rotten coaches litter the shore.

The sun is still setting. Not rising.

What Shula needed to do was part ways with Olividotti. That would have made a HUGE difference. Imagine Jim Bates' defense with the pre-JJ offense? We would have been deadly!

Yes. We already had a top 8 offense in 1995 even without much of a running game. We had the 4th ranked pass offense.

It was our defense that struggled and we had talent.....

Tim Bowens, Brian Cox, Norman Hand, Klingbeil, Troy Vincent, Louis Oliver, Terrell Buckley. We needed a FS and a couple of better OLB's and would have been competetive for years.

All those players and Olivadotti could do nothing.

We also had cap issues at the end of 1995 so...
