Looks like we may see more of Miller

I'd love to see Miller and Lane together. I'm a huge fan of Bush, but he hops around too much. Lane is making lanes and he doesn't follow him, sometimes for the better but a lot not.
I'd rather have Bush on the field and healthy, but I've been hoping we'd see Miller again with Lane since the first game.
We may have to go reciever/Runningback in the draft with the Two #2's if we can't find anyone decent in Free Agency. Thomas is a Bust. I knew it the second we moved up for him and didn't grab a QB.

somehow I think we are better off today than if we had drafted stiff robotic crackhead Ryan Mallett last year.

Oh, I see. The problem is two lawyers mis-communicating. Wow! Must be a first in history. LOL. I consider the April 2012 draft to be the "last" draft and the 2011 the draft of the year before the last's draft. You were talking about just the last calendar year's draft, 2011.
But we are advancing. We are higher on the popularity scale than insurance companies when you ask them to pay off a claim after paying years of premiums but are still lower than rattlesnakes (that includes rattlesnakes that have found their way into your home).

Oh No doubt!! Things happen for a reason. Today I am SOOOOO happy we waited for Tanny. Heck I'm kinda happy that The Colts Tanked for Luck and We didn't sell the farm for RGIII. But at the time I kinda saw red with such an opourtunity and then we actually move up for a Runningback? And Ricky Williams among others were still available in Free Agency. I just disliked the Pick from day 1. And he has done nothing but get injured . Time to recognize a bust, and sign his brain over to science for trauma testing.
We need some depth, maybe someone could call in Earnest Graham and give him a look. I don't think he's playing for anyone and could carry us through the rest of the season if we need a steady number two. That's IF his injury from 2011 is rehabed.
We have been carrying 4 HB's all season when most teams only keep 3 HB's.
I'm not sure how well Thigpen knows his assignments (blocking etc) but he must have some big play ability. The guy has been clocked in the high 4.2 range and has been great on returns. He is very quick as well as fast.
Thomas seems "rattled." Almost like he's unsure if the NFL grind is for him. Ad after getting his bean baked a few times he may really go into a tank.
I still think the kid has the physical tools to be very solid NFL RB. But the maye the mental side is too much for him, or he really isn't dedicated enough to be a Pro?
Either way, the coaching staff has a project to work with on this one, and I wouldn't count the kid out just yet. But the next 4-6 games will tell a lot about his future, or lack thereof.
I hope he gets his act together and plays good ball.

Agreed. Thomas hasn't flashed like Miller but big plays were never his game. Thomas doesn't have the speed that Bush and Miller have but he is exceptionally quick for his size, has good hands, and excels in pass pro. He needs to work on getting the tough yards but I think you guys are being a little too harsh. RBs don't need to rush for 1,000 yards to be productive contributors, Thomas has a role and has done adequately. The injuries are the only real concern for me.
Agree. Thomas is not a 1000 yard rusher in this system BUT he can be productive role player. That said, if we could get a 3rd for him next draft I'd make that move in a heartbeat. Tho I know that's not gonna happen for some obvious reasons...
Perhaps and consider, Ireland is maybe the best GM in the game at finding talent in less conventional ways -- like CFL, arena and maybe rodeo. At this point Thomas doesn't seem to have any particular "NFL grade quality" (i.e., power, speed, elusiveness, moves, vision, etc) that he can anchor his Pro game to. Couple that with his "mental lapses" and ostensibly his value as an NFL commodity is bearish for sure.
I guess I'm selling short of Thomas. But I'll spec few futures in a classic arbitrage.
My concern about Daniel Thomas is that he seems to run strongly once, twice, maybe three times and then....well then...it immediately goes away. His durability and toughness are severely in question.
We saw Bush "cha-cha" last weekend, trying to find a hole, not committing to try and blow past a defender. This may be due to his memory and not wanting to re-injure or worsen a healing part of his body. This is a weakness in the "tough" category of his playing character.
Perhaps this is the same reason the Saints did not use him as a full time RB.
Thomas' weakness is his durability and toughness. With 2 concussions, his running style is breaking him down physically and mentally.
We probably need to see more of Lamar Miller and I fully agree that Bush should do more catching in the flats or over the middle. His agility and speed pose a mismatch for most defenders--one in his favor. He's a game breaker--Daniel Thomas is not. Miller should be used a bit more.
