#2 Why would he give so much money to someone else and not remodel our own stadium.

It means he has way more than that right?

Which means he don't want to do a thing to remodel the stadium.

He could had built quite a few parking lots with many floors with elavators
with that kind of money. Like the one they built in Hardrocks

Yet it takes about 25 minutes from where you park sometimes to get to an area with roof...Lets hope it doesn't rain. Or lightning storm especially when you go with your wife and love ones.

Because #2 isn't accurate.

Ross already agreed to pay for most of the upgrade costs and the state of Florida shot that deal down.

This is not the NFL of the 1990's. It's extremely unlikely that any nfl owner will ever pay for his stadium 100% again. The rest of his fellow owners won't allow it.

So giving Ross a hard time for not doing something he isn't allowed to do isn't the way to go.

When I saw the topic of this thread I read it as "Michigan State" which is a rival of Michigan... now THAT would have been controversial.

How about option #3...

Just think of how many charities/people could have benefited from that kind of money...But let's go ahead and give it to another rich corporation to benefit the upper middle class people that will now be able to sit on a leather chair instead of a fabric chair in the new library....lol

Your right.......but the timing is God awful. Less then a week before opening day!!? really? Ross needs to use his head a bit more. The school would have been fine for another 3-5 yrs knowing the Pay day is coming. Dumb move that has pissed off a lot of people that didn't need to be.

Speaking of timing, I wonder if he actually made the donation last year and it became public because of the corporate tax filing (corporate deadline to file with extension is coming up soon). Just a thought.

As Truth has explained many times in the past, the NFL frowns upon owners doing that. Instead, they strongarm the owners into building new stadiums with public assistance. If the owners don't comply, they don't get to host super bowls (and also get screwed in other ways, I'd imagine). IF they do comply, they get to host the super bowl...even if they are in a northern climate during the wintertime. That's why New York is hosting.

Also, I'm pretty certain giving $200 of one's own money to charity yields a much better tax break than putting it into one's own business. Maybe that has a little bit to do with it.

Still.........52 weeks.....and this is the week he gives , or it get approves? Doesn't he have a PR man? Or does Ireland do that as well? Its just dumb. You don't ask for money while giving it away. Then you don't try to sell tickets to a stadium that you just publically stated needs upgrading. We have problems as is selling out. Am I the only one that sees this guy needs a better public persona?

You're welcome but I wasn't quoting him directly...in fact I may have gotten it partly wrong. The tax thing was my addition; also may be inaccurate but my opinion.

What I learned from the Truth was the NFL's tactics about frowning upon owners paying for their own stadium.

...or maybe it's better to get it out of the way so by the time Weatherford is run out of office and it goes before the House, it is not fresh news.

It would be an issue , but the week before opening day is really stupid. March 1st would have been much better, especially if we have a decent season after all the money he spent on the Team.
