Or unitl you play the Giants or the Vikings or Houston or the 49ers or until your Franchise QB gets knocked out for the season on a blind side hit.

tongue sticking out smileyI know ya need 4 wheels on your mini van to drive it. I mean like DUH!

But you don't need ultra low-profile tires with a super soft rubber compound to haul the kiddies to school.

Know what I mean?

Like I said, Martin is a very capable LT.

Problem solved.

Martin has been good for a rookie but by no means amazing. He won't be in the pro bowl or anything. The guy is serviceable right now and projects to get better but he has given up quite a few pressures usually only facing the opposing teams second best pass rusher. Even with Long's struggles, he is much better than Martin right now. Martin seems amazing because we all had to watch Colombo suck last season. Just watch the tape, not the highlights.

I think he has allowed just a couple of sacks in 5 games. Thats amazing for a rookie considering the players he is going against.

We have an amazing right tackle and an amazing center....John jerry and incognito might be the lesser of the bunch and they still doing good.

And as much as some hate to admit jake long when completely healthy might be the most gifted athlete of the bunch.

WTF?

Now I know you don't know crap about football.

Long was NEVER a "great athlete." Big? Yea. Powerful? Yea. But a "great athlete" like Pouncy or to a lesser degree Martin? Are you kidding me?

Long was always a BIG power dude with stiff hips, bad feet, and the basic look of Herman Munster (i.e., highly mechanical and NOT athletic) at his BEST!

Get the F outta here talking silly idiotic BS about him being a "great athlete."

Like I said early in this thread. Just go watch "Thill highlights" on Dolphins.com and iso on Long EVERY PASS and you'll be shocked how bad he looks (with constant bailing him out by Incognito who looks WAY MORE athletic than Long). Then go watch Martin and compare his feet and hips and basic "athletic package" and you gotta see the obvious dude! Then iso Jerry on every play and then Pouncy (who's playing out of this wOrld). Long is BY FAR the worst athlete on the OL. That's the point. He's lost his power game and now his core athleticism is exposed. And it ain't pretty.

Why do people like to get personal on this site when they disagree with someone?

Yeah, before I'm called a hypocrite, I'll get personal and rip you apart if you get personal with me FIRST.

Getting personal does not mean what it means in our everyday life because we don't really know each other.

Getting personal does not mean that you say someone is wrong about their opinion.

But when you say they are idiotic for staking out a position, when you say they don't know football, when you go to places like that, then you are getting personal and the respondent is going to come back in kind.

BNF, went completely off the beam in making those statements and I was thinking to myself "where is THIS coming from?" Totally no need for that. Not surprised SamSam came back like he did.

Just for THIS season, I would put Pouncey first. He has been killing it. If Pouncey keeps this up then he will get his first pro bowl and potentially all pro.

If all you had to do was "haul the kiddies to school, it is one thing, but when you have to hit a hard corner at 60mph+ with the chase on you better have some pretty elite tires, brakes and suspension...

Direct me to the post. But it applies to him as well. I posted it here because this was like the launching of nuclear weapons out of the blue by
BNF but BNF has very strong opinions about Phin players he does not like, like Henne, but if A & O did it, why would I have exempted him. I don't recall us being (You and I) being enemies, Crowder, and in fact, I find myself on the same side of the board as you on most issues.

I note that was an edit BTW. I read the first post before you edited it because all I remember was you asking me why I didn't do the same to A & O and what gives. Am I right?

I tend to agree with BNF on this subject of letting Long go, I don't think we could trade him for much right now though. The salary structure of when Long signed his rookie contract to now is vastly different, it's going to be hard to sign him to a 2nd contract that would obviously have to give him a raise, and also have it fit into the current salary cap. It sucks but it's a cold hard reality of the NFL right now, let him test the waters and see if anybody's willing to break the bank. I'd rather re-sign Hartline and Sean Smith and lose Long, then the other way around.

And those who are cavalierly saying, "let's cut this guy, let's cut that guy" mentioning the best kicker we've had in a long time and what was the anchor of our o-line act as if we have 10 picks in the first half of the first round.

It's like, "all we have to do is just get another kicker that has performed like Carpenter has in the past; all we have to do is get another all pro tackle like Jake Long"......HELLLOOOOO... have you forgotten that we STILL need to get a good wide receiver, we still need to get another pass rusher to compliment Wake, we still need to upgrade our secondary, we still need to keep our eye on running back given an aging Reggie and Daniel Thomas, all of this and we can just lightly open up TWO MORE NEEDS our our team?

First, Sounds like BNF started hittin the bottle before that post. WOW, where did that come from? What happened to the comical retorts?

Second, Chryen, you seem to be a pretty intelligent guy but to group a good, not great, kicker in with a great offensive lineman in this "to cut or not to cut" discussion is crazy.

Kickers are a dime a dozen. We can replace carpenter tomorrow and not miss a beat. There are plenty of kickers available that would love to move to south Fla. John kasay is currently unemployed.

That said, I completely agree about Long. Talk of replacing Long with a 2nd or 3rd rounder is...well I'm at a loss for words on that one.

the issue with long is the insane amount of money it will take to retain him after this season---and his play the last 2 years has not been worth it

My point exactly. Notice no positive stats since 2010.

Look, I don't hate Carpenter...yet. Even though he's cost us two games this year, I love what he's done in the past. But nostalgia only carries you so far. Then it's time to get the hatchet.

HE cost us two games this year? Don't get me started. I'm sure the rest of the board member will appreciate it if I just ask you to go back and read my threads about the Jets game and the crazy Hail Mary that we wasted a down on in overtime prior to him missing that kick.

I read every one of them. And I agree with the logic. But you can't argue that Carpenter did indeed miss fg's that would've won the games...bad offensive playcalling or not.
