Berk- I am just annoyed by people that want to make Tannehill divine before he has done anything... One passing TD in 2 games, with 3 interceptions, is not that good.. I like his potential, but the guy is ranked one ahead of last for his QBR, and people around here act like he is going for a Probowl.... really just a bunch of bullshit hype...

I don't care about QBR (some stupid made up stat by ESPN) or even know what it means and I don't really even care about RT's real stats at this point. I can see with my own eyes that RT is the most talented QB we've had here in over a decade. He's going to make mistakes and put up stinkers but having seen every snap our QBs have taken since the 1980s (as I am sure a lot on this site have) I think we've hit on a real QB with RT. It's heartening to read about other former NFL QBs who think the same thing. At this point that's more important to me than RT's stats thru 2 games (which really haven't even been all that bad, and better than some of the rookies).
Right now RT is far from a finished product but he's shown that he's got the skills to be a very good QB and that the mental part and game speed are not too much for him.
Remember Elway's first game was like 1-18 with 4 ints or something. Don't get so caught up in stats at this point, what do your eyes tell you?

My eyes tell me, he has confidence and smarts, but our passing game and Tannehill are not very good right now.... As soon as we win a game on Ryan Tannehills arm, I will be more apt to buy into it.. But to say he is the best we have had,when Pennington lead us to an AFC east title and playoffs. SOrry I have to disagree, especially at this point... Tannehill has yet to throw a complete pass beyond the pilons or goal line... And you think he is a better QB then Pennington...smh... that is what I mean by bullshit hype....

I don't know as much about QB as Kurt Warner, but I do know enough to know that all Kurt Warner has to go on, besides his experience, are three regular season games. And I also know for sure that is enough to make any long term observations.

If Tannehill is indeed the second best QB in week three, that speaks more about the state of this years QB crop than the play of Tannehill.

I think Warner sees he is making NFL type throws...just slighlty off target lol! But seriously, whether he cleans up this 'accuracy', 'touch' or what ever you want to call will determine whether he is a good/great NFL QB or a bust.

No, there are is no Elway or Marino in this class but to me none of them look like 'busts' so far.

Here are more ifs...

1. If armstrong catches that pass down the middle of the field.....he scores a td.

2. If hartline has more speed he catches that long pass in stride and scores easily.

3. If carpenter hits on the first field goal the game doesnt go into overtime and we win.

4. If carpenter hits on the second field goal in overtime we win the game as well.

5. If that retarded jet player doesnt hurt bush on purpose we wpould of had a running game.

He made horrible throws deep to Bess and Hartline who both made great plays to catch the ball. Good throws woulda been TD's

He stupidly went for a TD when 5 yards or more woulda helped with FG attempt.

This could just be maturity. RT may develop.

But don't confuse this kid with Marino. Marino would have made those throws TDs. RT is more in the vein of Chad Henne.

Well I think the Henne comparison may be a little harsh. NO he's not showing the things Marino showed almost immediately, but go back and watch Marino's first playoff game vs Seattle. You see some of the same stuff we saw yesterday and with a MUCH better receiver corp. Your dead on though, it's immaturity (getting fooled by old experienced DB's in the flat and on outs, overthrowing receivers because he doesn't 'know' them well enough yet). All to be expected. That said, I'm not a 'give the kid 5 years to develop' fan. If he doesn't clean up some of the bad reads in the middle and some of the inaccuracy/touch issues THIS YEAR then...well, the Panthers drafted two first rounders in a row.

I can only speculate, just like the rest of you guys. I sense that Tannehill will mature quickly on the playing field, and could mature even faster if he had a better receiving corps. Despite our painful loss to the Jets, the team was in the game. With a few more catches here and there, that game would have been won by us during regular play. Pieces of the puzzle are visibly missing at WR and in the Secondary.

Thanks for the rational response.

I'm with you here. I'm very much taking a "show me" attitude. Right now, I'm seeing exactly what I expect.

As far as the Henne comparisons, if you look at Henne's first season as a starter, you see very similar style of play. The problem with Henne is that he didn't grow. He stopped taking chances and threw mainly passes 15 yards are less.

Perhaps this was Henne realizing his capabilities - he just wasn't an accurate deep passer. But he was quite accurate inside 15 yards, and spread the ball around a lot - indicating that he was good at finding an open receiver.

The thing is, I'm not seeing Tannehill being that accurate deep. Perhaps he can improve on this --- he must. He's got a good arm, but if he continues to throw deep passes that are ugly (BTW - this is what I saw in college as well) then he will be just like Henne: A QB that can identify the open WR well enough, but plays on a field only 15 yards deep.

IMO, accuracy over 15 yards s the difference between elite QBs and not elite. The great ones, Marino, Elway, both Mannings all can hit a WR 20 yards out as if they were 5 yards out. Look at Flacco and Brady last night, they can do it too. I'm looking at Tannehill and am just not seeing it. Didn't see it in college, don't see it now.
