3/5/2010: Signed a five-year, $43 million contract. The deal contains $22 million guaranteed, including a $16 million signing bonus. 2012: $8.8 million, 2013: $6.05 million, 2014: $9.05 million, 2015: Free Agent
Assume the cap hit is the above plus the prorated $16M over the 5 years.
He's too expensive, but Miami hasn't done much to work on getting younger and more affordable talent at that position. We sucked after Zack left (and a little just before he left). Crowder was amistake (IMHO - no offense to any on the board).
I think we address it next year after WR and posibly tackle.

I think the 100 yard rusher stat has alot to do with the three probowlers on the defensive line, (Stark, Solia,Wake)... Dansby running around covering TE's 20 yards downfield just doesnt seem like his game...I like Dansby but not for the price and this scheme.... If you are the second highest paid LB, you should be a constant in the probowl IMO... Not just a good player on most occasions, when your healthy and in shape...

If I had to guess, Dansby might be playing this season to either save or kill his tenure in Miami. We save nearly 4 million in cap next year if he's cut, not that it looks like we actually need the money, but I believe we're in a period of ensuring the right distribution of money and cap %.
Having said this, I think the new CBA might have some condition whereby teams must spend a certain % of the cap. When I look at 2013, we're already about $40 million under the cap and that includes Long's $12 million when I think his contract might void after this season (not sure). Can anyone confirm for me how this works?
at the time everyone wanted us to sign Dansby and pay what it took to do it. Yes it's turned out to be a bad contract but that's all with the benefit of hindsight. That said I expected more out of Dansby.

I saw one play this year where he was actually jogging to the ball as the RB ran past and then he just gave up on the play. I think it was the Houston game where the RB scored or had a long run.
