Right now, RGIII is outplaying Andrew Luck as is Russell Wilson. I think that judgements made after 2 games of the season can either turn out to be right or wrong. I think you look at it after at least 8 games.

Same thing with RT. After the first game and a minute or so of the second game, there were those who would have sworn it was a mistake.

This is a different world than I was born and raised in in the 50's and 60's. Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris and Willie Mays built up their reputation over the years.

Now, if a player has an initial bad game he is an instant failure if he has an initial good game he is an instant HOF.

Vontae may indeed turn out to suck but he is playing on a new team after spending his entire pre-season with his old team. At least give him half the season.

lest we forget that Ireland spent a 1st round pick on this "poopy" CB, passing over H Nicks and Clay Matthews. So I will give him no props for this trade.

I think the Dolphins felt that they wanted to invest the money elsewhere and weren't happy with both his play and commitment. Sean Smith will be the cornerback they invest the big bucks in down the line. To get a second for Vontae, was a good deal.

Sean SMith has not remotely looked like a #1 corner this year...He has given up as many yards as any of our CB's so far...

Didn't know that Vontae was Vernon's brother.

Not saying the trade should not have been made Jonathan.

In an earlier thread I just objected to the lecture Ireland gave Vontae when he informed Vontae of the traded.

Chyren- I think the organization did him dirty by placing him in that situation with the cameras without any heads up. He was ridiculed by many for his reaction, a 25 yeard old kid doesnt deserve to be set up like that on camera.... Being traded was probably a tough enough blow, besides that of having your expression and immediate reaction plastered all over HBO and the national media outlets for others to make fun of you....uncool

Ireland is the master of disaster. He's an inexcusable jackass. I bet he plays Madden on"rookie" mode.

If he didnt want to get embarrassed on Hard Knocks, then he should have come into camp in shape and acting like a #1 draft pick that pocketed millions from the Dolphins.
At 25, he's a big boy. Quit feeling sorry for an underachieving millionaire who should be set for life!
And the Vernon/Vonte comparisons are laughable!!

Moving to Indy doesn't miraculously get Vontae in shape or change his general attitude. This looks like a great trade for us, for a change!

another point, sean smith has looked good through two games this year. He only allowed two catches in the oakland game. and i believe they rotated corners on Dre for the first game, who is a tough cover for any corner.

Our problem in the pass defense dept is not the DB's as much as it's the lack of a pass rush. I don't think we really lost that much by trading Vontae, it remains to be seen if Ireland will turn those picks into some good palyer/s. With all of those early picks and cap-space, we have a lot of options going into next April.

i guess chrens philosophy of vontae playing well against us goes out the window then if vontae isn't playing well.

Will you guys wait? After the first bad game some declare RT a bust. After two weeks on a brand new team AND GET THIS THROUGH YOUR THICK HEADS ON A TEAM THAT HE DID NOT EVEN PRACTICE WITH IN PRE SEASON, Vontae is not performing well. We play Indy much later in the season. Wait until after then and see if 1) Vontae sucks like some of you are declaring is a closed question now and/or 2) as SamSam says my theory of him beating us goes out the window.

Chren but he didnt do anything here either and he played like 2 years here right? He did not make any spectacular plays here or anything like that.

And the trend will continue in indi.

Oh, I don't think you can say that as an absolute. I remember good plays he made. Maybe not as many as he should have but come on. Not saying he was an all pro but why in the hell out of all the corners in the NFL did Indy come up with the stupid idea of calling the Dolphins and asking about him?

You think they just like sucky players?

Nobody likes sucky players i agree. But i say we came out on the winning end of this deal...A 2nd and a 6th is a very good deal for vontae.

Especially since he did nothing special here..Lots of potential but he hasnt put it into the field of play yet.

Oh see now that's the way you guys always misinterpret me.

You have to realize that I am a lawyer and make very fine minute distinctions and when I argue violently on a point you tend to overextend that point.

I think it was a great thing to make that deal.

I only objected to Ireland making the UNNECESSARY and uncalled for GRATUITOUS advice to Vontae that he needs to step up his gain which EVEN TAKEN AT FACE VALUE does Indy good but does us no good particularly since we PLAY Indy this year so even if he takes it in a positive way, we get to see him play good against ourselves and IF IT INFURIATES HIM, then we really get it in the a_s when he plays us. It's simply none of our business.

But that doesn't mean I think we should not have made the deal.

Maybe if I simply it and say "It was another 'was your mother a crack whore' moment."
