I watched the locker room speech by Philbin, was waiting for the game ball to be given, thought for sure it would be Reggie Bush... Instead I watched our owner join the huddle and present a game ball to Philbin.... First off if anyone deserved a game ball yesterday it was obviously Reggie Bush... Secondly, never in the history of this organization have I seen or heard of a game ball been presented by the owner... I have seen SParano get game balls before but it was presented by one of the leaders of the team, not the owner....to me that is cheesy, the owner didnt participate in the game, he shouldnt be giving out game balls in the locker room....I am sure Jerry Jones does it but come on, really?

SamSam- I am sure if you had it your way, you already have Tannehill's Jersey enshrined next to Fergie's picture, get a photoshoot on the orange carpet and dance all afternoon to techno in club liv(sunlife) on sundays as MR ROSS coaches the team and hands out gameballs...lol.... I am happy for the win, but you gain nothing by being foolishly optimistic...realism with a bit of optimism is good.. let me know when you find it...

Crowder you are complaining about foolish things and you are saying its wrong for an owner to give out game balls.

Who cares who gives out game balls man. Just be happy that we won.

About next week...............The key thing is for the refs not to let the jets DBs get away with all the interference and holding penalties...

The jets play tight coverage and if they let the jets dbs get away with it we are toast.

EDIT....Im really not trying to bash your thread crowder....I just thought it doesnt really matter who gave out the game balls....I apologize if i did.

SamSam- I just think it is meaningless to recieve a game ball from an owner.. If Philbin got the game ball from his team and its leaders, it means something, having your owner over step his usual bounds and present a gameball to anybody is meaningless and stupid.. if the players thought Philbin deserved a game ball, then they would have given him one, but to have a guy give out a gameball who sat in his suite and sipped cocktails with the elite while the actual game was played, is laughable... To do it on camera and have it out their the next day on your website, even more foolish.. Ross plays right into the labels he tries to deny so often.. If you ask the team who deserved the one and only game ball... Reggie Bush, if he did get one, then they should have shown that nor Mr Ross. If he didnt get one, does Philbin's game ball really mean anything...I dont think Philbin deserved one either way and i defintely dont think Mr Ross should be handing them out let alone on film..

Crowder -

I usually agree with your takes on the owner, but this is silly.

For two weeks in a row, I've seen a well coached, disciplined team take the field. By and far our special teams have been very good. We are top ten in fewest number of penalties per game. The game plans have been good, and skewed towards the talent of this team (i.e. we are not exactly WCO, even though that was the edict early on).

This was the first home opener we've won since the days of Nick Saban, and its obvious that Philbin was doing everything he can to prepare the team for this (more outdoor TC practices, up tempo practices, etc.).

And, unlike Cam Cameron, our new coach is taking a maligned team and not waiting 12 weeks to win.

The team was well prepared for the Raiders and went out and kicked their butts.

So I think the coach deserves Kudos. Being a chain of command thing, the ball has to come from the GM or Owner. I'm happy it was the owner (maybe the GM is going out?).

Anyway, Reggie Bush probably go a game ball from the coach. I can't imagine he didn't. Its all about chain of command.

Well put DK, I agree. I've seen videos or read articles of other owners giving game balls, it's not that uncommon.

I'm serious. There will come a day when nee nee will flub our only chance for a win. That loss may cost us the playoffs.

A good coach does not suffer any fool or any incompetent to play.

We have Hartline Bess and other receivers.

WE DON'T NEED TO HAVE NEE NEE ON THE FIELD.

It's gonna cost us one day and you guys will be blaming Ireland.

Philbin has this clown starting, not just playing occasionally.

You guys are gonna regret it. I'm warning you.

no coach who starts this clown can be considered good, let alone be given the game ball in a game where he started the clown.

He is Not For Long in the starting lineup. As soon as Armstrong is healthy I am betting.

Marlon Moore or Mathews will be better but you're right about one thing...they need to make the move.

Like I said before. Nothing good happens when the ball is thrown to him.

Here is Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman's explanation of Legedu Naanee's disappearance.

"He wasn't targeted many times. Coverages dictates that because he's on one side and not another," Sherman said. "We have guys that work real hard and these are the guys we've got. They are going to help us win football games. We're excited about the guys we've got."

Translation: He's the best they got for that position and he doesn't mind being a decoy - but they don't trust him enough to regularly run plays at him.

They haven't run plays at him.

Maybe he doesn't mind running 40 yard wind sprints every play, just to clear out the side. Maybe he blocks well. If we've got a bunch of average WRs, then we might as well start the guy with the best attitude.

Hartline is clearly the better WR, but he doesn't have speed to clear things out. He is coming off an injury, so they may want to save him for when they need him.

The season is a marathon, not a sprint.

Well then we should have kept Ted Ginn. He could run at the speed of light and got open all the time.

Unfortunately, he couldn't catch the ball if he was alone by himself in the stadium.

But when he would run and get butt naked open, they had to have at least one guy cover him.

He also cost Henne his job because, silly Henne, he threw the ball to Ginn on occasion.

Ginn worked out for the Niners last year.

A lot of it is coaching.

Actually DolfanKing, when I saw him with the niner's same old story. They used him on kickoffs but he dropped damn near every pass that came his way as a receiver.

Its like when a singer in a Rock band introduces the band. When he's done no one to introduce him, so someone usually steps in. Its was Philbins first win, he's been through some shit with his kid and all, he deserved an attaboy. Believe me Reggie got his props from the Stadium.

Sorry I disagree, if Philbin deserved a game ball the team would have given it to him.. Only people that were actually in the game, should be giving game balls.. Very foolish and something Jerry Jones would do.. Cheesy... Game balls are important, the owner should respect tge game and have nothing to do with it..

To all those that think it is common for owners to give game balls. Please show me any other owner besides Jerry jones and Stephen ross giving out a game ball on tape?

to each his own crowder. But it seemed, from watching the video again, that the team was pretty enthusiastic about it. They broke out into clapping and cheers that seemed genuine. didn't come across cheesy to me.

alot of stuff that ross has done has upset me, but this just doesn't get under my skin.

Do you mean he "worked out" in the gym? or worked out as a kick returner, or a receiver?

If you meant the latter, I see that his receiving stats are 19 receptions for 220 yards, with his longest catch being 26 yards and no TDs (as a receiver).

His worst year as a Dolphin was better than that, statistically speaking as a receiver.

But I did not see him play last year so I may be missing something--I know he ran one or two kicks for the distance, which is great, but I don't see anything that sticks out from Ginn as a receiver last year.

I love Oronde but, I don't think he ever drew more than single coverage. A completion for a TD into triple coverage is far more impressive. Especially against the jest, at home. The look on ToeJam's face was priceless. tongue sticking out smiley

It's ONE play. Oronde had many.

How many TDs did Ginn have as a Phin anyway?

A head coach's first career win is deserving of a game ball. I think is was a nice gesture from the owner.
